Steins;Gate/Awesome

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Anime/Visual Novel

  • Kurisu gets one early on in the VN by debunking all eleven time travel theories in excruciating detail and reducing Okabe to a straggling husk afterwards.
  • The Faris Cup scene in Chapter 2 has Faris complete against 10 Rainet players at once, and still kicking their collective asses in less than 15 minutes! That should speak volumes of her skill at this game.
  • After the lab gets raided in Episode 12, the next episode starts with Suzuha running back into the lab and knocking out each of the assailants, except Moeka, with whom she engages in a Mexican stand-off. Her claims of being a warrior weren't for nothing after all!
    • In the same scene, Okabe's quick thinking to use Future Gadget No. 4: Moad Snake (the instant humidifier) to buy himself some time to get the Time Leap Machine ready should be commended.
  • Though his efforts were to no avail, Okabe's determination to keep Mayuri from dying numerous times deserves respect.
  • The fact that it was Mayuri who figured out who Suzuha's dad is simply by using the power of observation, and piecing together even the most seemingly insignificant details shows that she is smarter than she looks.
  • Faris' 180 in Chapter 7 to beat the Viral Attackers in the RaiNet Championship final by not only misleading Shido for the first half of the match, but also by using the earplugs Okabe gave her prior to block out Shido's taunting.
  • The heroic return of the Hououin Kyouma persona at the end of episode 23. Adding to this scene is the inclusion of the game's main theme, "Skyclad Observer" playing in the background, making the end of the episode that much more epic.
    • Also, future Okarin from the same scene.
    • Mayuri gets one herself by walking up to give Okarin a slap to bring him back down to Earth, encouraging him to try again because Hououin Kyouma never gave up. It is even more awesome in hindsight after watching Steins;Gate 0 when we see the true extent of how we got here, Mayuri's actions most likely prevented World War 3 from happening with just a single slap!
  • The scene with Okabe, Kurisu and Dr. Nakabachi in the final episode, particularly Okabe's emergency plan to recreate the episode 1 murder scene through some good old-fashioned Loophole Abuse by getting himself stabbed, knocking Kurisu unconscious by tazing her, and spraying his own blood over her. Oh, and before all that, going out of his way to remove the metallic Oopa from the equation.. Even better though is the fact Okabe had to change plans on the fly when he discovered that the fake blood he was going to use had dried up.
  • A meta example: J. Michael Tatum's voice acting has been widely acclaimed, with his performance as Rintaro Okabe being heralded as one of his best works. Made even better by that fact he was the one who wrote the anime's English script!

My Darling's Embrace

  • Okabe's maturity in helping Moeka come out of her shell by the of her route, by asking her direct questions and assuring her that people do care about her, and she isn't the unwanted child she always believed she was, all in a calm and composed manner despite his lack of experience with this type of situation. This moment is this, Heart-warming, and a Tearjerker all rolled into one.
  • Thanks to Moeka and Daru's extensive research, Shido finally gets what he deserves in Faris' route, as the lab mems bring his shady (and illegal) business dealings to light with hard evidence, including forced buyouts, scouting via intimidation, violence (which they witnessed), and - thanks to Daru - possibly tax fraud.
    • In the same route, Suzuha gets her own Big Damn Heroes moment by effortlessly subduing Shido's goons. Even Shido himself is stunned into silence by this.
  • Mayuri gets one in her route by saving Okabe from drowning during their day out at the swimming pool.

Linear Bounded Phenogram

  • Minor as it may have been, Faris was able get Mr. Tennouji to back off by ordering him to be quiet!
  • As hilarious as Okabe and Kurisu look in Lizardman attire, you have to admit: the makeup effects are incredible.
  • Despite setting it up in the first place, Moeka gets her own Big Damn Hero moment by saving Kurisu from being mowed down by a speeding car at a crosswalk. She gets another one later on by pulling both a Heel Face Turn and a Heroic Sacrifice to save the lab from the Rounders.
  • We also have Nae working with Daru to reconstruct the PhoneWave while under the watchful eyes of SERN agents, even repairing the 42-inch CRT downstairs. Not bad going for a 13-year-old.
