General Fics

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

A Wonderful Life or Close Enough Anyway by Mr. Unimportant

  • Recommended by Beeruckz
  • Synopsis: This is a story of Jack's life after marriage in the Valley. ...Okay, fine, being over 100,000 words, it spreads a bit beyond that. Read... NOW.

Another Side of Autumn by Son of the South 9194

  • Recommended by: Beeruckz
  • Synopsis: A theory on Vaughn's backstory.

Flower by Riksie-Dixie Turbo 21

  • Recommended by: Beeruckz
  • Synopsis: Celia loved flowers, but Marlin never saw why. To him, the flowers were nothing more than a green stem attached to a bloom of petals. They were more like... props to a scenery. That is, until his daughter showed him otherwise.

A Million Tomorrows by Seventh Chance

  • Recommended by: patrckred
  • Synopsis: Jack leaves a sordid past to begin a new life in a strange village filled with even stranger people, only to find that no matter how far you run, you can't run away from yourself. BTN/Mineral Town. Many pairings.
  • Comments: This fic is very well written, and although there is shipping the main focus is on Jack and his relationships with all the other characters. The amount of depth to it surprised me. Well worth reading.

Shipping Fics

Always There by Bluemoon375

  • Recommended by: Beeruckz
  • Pairings: Lanna x Mark (it makes sense in context)
  • Synopsis: Throughout all the trials she's faced, Lanna has always found comfort in her childhood friend Mark. So what happens to her when he's believed to be dead?

Hidden Greed, Hidden Grief by Genesic

  • Recommended by: Beeruckz
  • Pairings: Jack x Lumina
  • Synopsis: But no matter how he tried, he could not keep his greed concealed.

Frostbitten Flower by The Scarlet Sky

  • Recommended by: Beeruckz
  • Pairings: Celia x Marlin, Celia x Jack
  • Synopsis: When Celia married Jack, the world was perfect and her life complete. Yet by the time winter came, she found herself alone...but sometimes, we aren't as alone as we think.

Medication and Mixers by Twiggy Morrison

  • Recommended by: Redbattleshibro
  • Pairings: Various, Mostly Kathy/Kasey
  • Synopsis: Drip, drip. Is it just her imagination, or is the bag empty again? A collection of oneshots, centering around everyones favorite barmaid and the hardly working farmer.

Storm Clouds and Grey Skies by Yurama

  • Recommended by: Pichu
  • Pairings: Leia x Claire
  • Synopsis: Leia's been there for Claire ever since she took over the farm at Mineral Town and the two thought they'd remain friends forever...
  • Comments: The pairing is quite rare and this fanfic is a rare gem in itself. It's cute well-written and not as sickly sweet as you'd expect.. At all.

Best Friends by Artificially Intelligent Data Anomaly

  • Recommended by Pichu
  • Pairings: Keira x Claire
  • Synopsis: HM:DS Cute. How terribly unfair that a man and a woman become spouses while a woman and a woman become "BFFs." Less angst, more anger. An insight into the small world of boondocks love and its victims. Keria and her rather disgruntled Claire.
  • Warnings: Many, many Cluster F-Bomb's. As in "every other line, most likely multiple times".
  • Comments: I find the theory surrounding this fanfic quite interesting. It makes Forget-Me-Not Valley into a Crap Saccharine World and I really like the grimdark.
