Survivor (TV series)/Characters/Palau

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Tom Westman

  • The Ace: Tom won five immunity challenges, the most of any winner. He also carried (along with Ian and Gregg) Koror to a unanimous win over Ulong throughout the pre-merge.
  • Badass: He killed a shark with a machete.
  • Born Winner
  • Cool Old Guy
  • Happily Married
  • The Hero
  • Hot Dad
  • Magnetic Hero: Even the people he betrayed voted for him at the end; granted, the alternative was Katie...
  • Manipulative Bastard: If only in a single instance. Towards the very end during the final immunity challenge, Tom basically guilts Ian into quitting by using their friendship as leverage. He also successfully backstabbed another sub-alliance within his team one vote before they were planning to backstab him.
  • No Damage Run
  • Rated "M" for Manly
  • Sole Survivor
  • Team Dad: Initially, his strategy was to be seen as the Team Dad of the tribe, and let the younger alpha males be seen as the leaders of the tribe and thus the bigger targets. Lo and behold, Tom's natural leadership ability and challenge dominance couldn't be hid for long.

Katie Gallagher

Ian Rosenberger

Jennifer "Jenn" Lyon

Caryn Groedel

Gregg Carey

Stephenie LaGrossa

Janu Tornell

Coby Archa

Bobby Jon Drinkard

Ibrehem Rahman

  • The Load: Despite appearing to be one of the fittest people there, he was beyond useless in challenges. That's why Koror chose to give him immunity.
  • The Stoic
  • Token Minority: Notable for being the show's first Muslim contestant.

James Miller

  • Becoming the Mask: It's hard to tell whether or not his stereotypical "redneck" behavior is an act or not. One minute he's speaking pretty normally to the Confession Cam, and the next he's giving some bizarre homespun speech to the tribe that only he can understand.
  • Catch Phrase: "Come on!"
  • Chew Toy: A recurring theme in the first half of the season is James bringing something up as a skill he's acquired and then getting beat at it every time.
  • Southern-Fried Genius: He tried to be this but most certainly wasn't.

Angie Jakusz

  • Crouching Weak Player Hidden Badass: Was nearly voted out in the first Tribal Council for being perceived as a weak player. She wasn't, and actually turned out to be one of Ulong's strongest players in challenges.
  • Diabolus Ex Machina: While not a new twist by any means, had Koror not been given the opportunity to hand immunity to Ibrehem specifically because he was terrible, Angie could have lasted a little while longer. Instead, she's targeted only because she was on the outside of an alliance, and sent packing.
  • Fag Hag: During the first day, her and Coby seemed to be friends. Seemed to be, until Coby passed her over during the tribal selection process. Angie was slightly devastated by it.
  • Meganekko
  • Perky Goth: Most of the time, anyway.

Willard Smith

  • Out of Focus: He didn't get a lot of screen time, but post show interviews and certain deleted scenes have hinted that the guy was a Deadpan Snarker and Cool Old Guy.
  • Running Joke: Some of the viewers thought that Willard looked like Palau's version of the Immunity Idol.
  • Sacrificial Lamb
  • Self-Deprecation: He refers to himself as an old curmudgeon.
  • Thanatos Gambit: Subverted. After he got voted off, Willard told his tribe Koror to "Stick to the plan, finish them off", which referred to Ulong. But what he said he was really trying to do was to encourage his tribe to become overconfident in challenges, lose, and then self implode.

Kim Mullen

Jeff Wilson

  • Mr. Fanservice
  • The Rival: He was the only person on Ulong who could keep up against Tom from Koror in the challenges.
  • Ship Tease: With Kim.
  • Suicide by Cop / Thanatos Gambit: He asked for Ulong to vote him off after rolling his ankle on a coconut in the middle of the night. It's debatable whether he actually quit or not, because he genuinely believed that his injury made him of no further use to his tribe.

Ashlee Ashby

Jolanda Jones

Wanda Shirk

Jonathan Libby

  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Why was he eliminated on the second day? We'll probably never know, but Angie did hint at the Reunion that he was a bit of a Jerkass.
