@Severedblock695: You've deleted some apparently valid examples without explanation. Care to tell us why? We're likely to revert the edit if you don't provide a good reason.

Thanks.

Well, that's cool. Next time, say so in the edit reason.

Accidental comedy in serious works

Are they worth mentioning on this page?

For example, I remember some scenes in the film "Der Baader Meinhof Komplex" which were unexpectedly funny although the subject is actually not funny at all. In particular, Andreas Baader is depicted as somewhat childish and immature, which adds elements of Crosses The Line Twice when the film actually wants to tell you he was an ax-crazy extremist (although a kind-of well-intentioned one).

The trope as written is about something that is funny in-universe. So, if somebody in the story reacts with a smile or a laugh, then it's good to include here.

I don't remember any amused in-universe response, although I cannot rule them out either. It's some time ago that I have seen the film. What I meant was an audience reaction rather than that. Some scenes have elements of Black Comedy that appear to be unintentional, perhaps because it's a film about real-world events and these people may have really behaved like that. So if this is not Actually Pretty Funny, is it [[Springtime for Hitler]]? After all this film is a kind of documentation about dangerous terrorists and not really supposed to make anyone laugh.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

That's a good question... We don't have very many Audience Reaction tropes about things that turn out to be funny, other than Hilarious in Hindsight.

I suppose we could list it here, but somebody might come along and remove it from the list.
