Geography vs Places

What's the difference between the two?

HeneryVII (talkcontribs)

Well, for starters, "geography" is the term for the study of the Earth's physical features. "Place" would be more like the ACTUAL physical feature. In other words, if you want to study or analyze a "place", (likely a large one) you'd use your knowledge of "geography"

If you mean "geography of a place", that would mean the features of an area. For example, if the "place" was a "forest", the "geography of the forest" would include what sort of flora and fauna it had, typical temperature and precipitation, manmade structures, and so on.

Also, "place" is a far broader term, it could mean something as small as a room in a house, the actual house, the town the house is in, and so on. "Geography" tends to encompass a far wider spectrum.

Okay, so how does that apply in the context of this page we're Talking about? How does one know which entries are correctly placed and which ought to be in the other one? Or is there even a need to separate the two at all?

(goes and looks)

Everything currently listed under "Geography" is about places, using HeneryVII's definition. I vote to merge the two sections.

EDIT: I see some places listed under "Other", as well. I also see enough Sports examples listed under Other that they could get their own subsection of Real Life. (Sports aren't scripted, so they're Real Life, right?)

With the exception of Professional Wrestling, they aren't.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

True, which is why Professional Wrestling gets its own section on trope example lists.
