  • Imagine if, tomorrow, Miley Cyrus released an award-winning, angsty, introspective, multi-platinum-selling album that would become one of the defining albums of the decade it was released in. Got that picture in your head? Good, because that is exactly what happened in 1995, when a Canadian Teen Idol by the name of Alanis Morissette switched from cheesy bubblegum pop to chick rock and released Jagged Little Pill.

That may have been an appropriate comparison ten years ago, but given the various mutations Miley Cyrus's music and career have gone through since that was written she's not exactly the best choice any more. So who is the iconic female bubblegum pop idol right now?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Hell with it. Replaced Cyrus with Selena Gomez, whose music is apparently still much closer to that kind of bubblegum pop than Cyrus has been for a decade or so.
