I'd like to rename this. How about Officer Jerkass?

Let's not. As is, this is a unique and evocative trope. Officer Jerkass will have people going 'Shouldn't this just be a category on the Jerkass page?' in a few years.

Well, I'm fine with not using "Officer Jerkass", I hope we can find a good fit that my (or the wiki's) auto-correct doesn't hate. ~9 months ago, some wiki users in Trope Talk talked about "The The Tropes" and renaming them. It wasn't very productive. Plus if it wasn't for this article, I'd know nothing about the character Neidermeyer, so I don't consider him iconic enough for the name to explain the trope.

How about the name that the page says is used in Real Life? If "Queeg-like" is good enough for everybody else in the world, then surely it's good enough for us, too.

This is the first I've heard of it, so I'm not entirely keen on having that as the final title, but at the very least I don't see it as any worse than "The Neidermeyer".

Another possibility: tin-pot general.

Me, I like "The Neidermeyer". I'm not going to be in favor of any change. If it does change, well, better track down all the wicks and make sure you remove the chatty little bits I've been seeing in more than a few about Animal House.

I'm going to have to side with LT on this one, no need to change this, it's got some tenure in the public zeitgeist, no sense tossing that aside.

Well, redirects are free... we can have a whole slew of names.
