Ultra Deluxe?

A new Stanley Parable game called Ultra Deluxe recently came out. Should a new page be created for this version, or should information about it be included on this page?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

New game, new page. We're trying to get everything into a one-work-per-page state, except for franchise pages. Which means this might be the time to create a "The Stanley Parable (franchise)" page and list both pages on it.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

And for this reason I've just rejected your proposed edit to The Stanley Parable -- which you made about two hours before you asked, so no big deal.

Bauerbach (talkcontribs)

OK! But "Ultra Deluxe" has many of the same tropes as the original, as it's pretty much the same game but with added features. I guess the page just lists tropes from Ultra Deluxe then?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Yes. You could start the tropes section with something like "The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe shares many tropes with its predecessor, The Stanley Parable, but in addition to these there are the following:".

However, you know what? Let me ping the other admins, just in case the majority of them decide to tell me I'm off base.

Is Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe a remake that should share a page with the original standalone release, or its own work? That is a very good question. Honestly, the line is blurred, and for good reason; doing anything in a remotely straightforward fashion is very much anathema to the Crows Crows Crows' design ethos.

Here's my take: The Stanley Parable is a trilogy, consisting of three primary works: the original half-life mod, the 2013 standalone version, and Ultra Deluxe. So my suggestion is, we should have a main page for The Stanley Parable (listing tropes common to all entries), and individual pages for each entry in the series.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Ah, I hadn't known it started as a Half-Life mod. Yeah, three versions should definitely hang off a franchise page.

Bauerbach (talkcontribs)

OK, thanks!

I just made a draft for the Ultra Deluxe page in my Sandbox. Is there a place on All The Tropes where I can ask for feedback on drafts?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

For works? Not really. But you can always put a note on its talk page asking for comments and ping everyone who's currently an active editor. For instance, this is the file I keep handy that I call "the Usual Suspects":

{{FlowMention|Agiletek}} {{FlowMention|GentlemensDame883}} {{FlowMention|Goo Monster}} {{FlowMention|HeneryVII}} {{FlowMention|HornyLikeIAmA14YearOldGirl}} {{FlowMention|Lequinni‎}} {{FlowMention|RivetVermin}} {{FlowMention|Umbire the Phantom}} {{FlowMention|Utini501}} {{FlowMention|Jlaw}} {{admins}}

Paste that into a talk page and every one of those people will get an alert that they've been mentioned in a conversation. That's pretty much the best way to solicit comments.

Bauerbach (talkcontribs)

OK! So I just put those on the talk page for my sandbox (where the draft is) then?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Yeah, create a message asking for feedback, and end it with that. It's basically a list of CCs that'll appear in the form "@username, @username..."
