Image replacement proposal

13
Robkelk (talkcontribs)

This is part of the ongoing "replace copyrighted images with public domain images" project.

I'd like to replace the current copyrighted image (that we inherited from TVT during the fork) with a public-domain image from the trailer for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Disney film). The image is available on Wikimedia Commons, at c:File:Walt Disney Snow white 1937 trailer screenshot (13).jpg.

Thoughts, for, against, or otherwise?

Could the phot on Wikipedia be used? Pretty sure that would be okay.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

By "the phot on Wikipedia", I assume you mean c:File:Walt Disney 1946.JPG. We could, yes. In many ways, it's better than the one I suggested.

The one I suggested at least has the movie dwarfs in it, though, which shows a connection between the person and the work.

Or did you mean c:File:Walt Disney envelope ca. 1921.jpg? We could use that one, too, and it actually shows him plying his trade.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Either of Rob's suggestion or Walt Disney 1946.JPG would be acceptable to me. I don't think the envelope is really the right kind of image to use.

Voting for the 1946 one.

I prefer the 1937.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

We have three votes for the 1946 photo, two votes for the 1937 photo, and one vote for either. Still too early to tell which one to put on the main page. (The other will go on an Image Links subpage, along with the envelope.)

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Poking the thread to see if we can't get some manner of consensus.

Jlaw (talkcontribs)

Do we need a tiebreaker?

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

I'd prefer that one image has at least three more votes than the other, so we need at least two tiebreakers.

My opinion has not changed; still going for the 1946 image.
