These things about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • One-Scene Wonder: Stan Lee at the graduation ceremony.
  • Signature Scene: Gwen's death. Though the context around is vastly different, she dies almost like her comic counterpart, and it similarly causes Peter a gigantic amount of grief. Despite the criticism towards the film, this subplot was well-received and considered a redeeming factor.
  • Signature Song: "It's On Again" by Alicia Keys.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks: A awkward man turns into a super-powered murderous maniac after falling into a tank of liquid and turns on the hero that he used to worship? Many people were quick to compare it to several supervillain's origins like Selina Kyle on Batman Returns and Edward Nygma on Batman Forever.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The film focused too much on the subplots, with Electro, Green Goblin, Peter's backstory, and Peter's own relationship with Gwen fighting for screen time. It doesn't help Sony heavily hyped creating their own multiverse about Spider-Man characters beforehand.
