  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Either Patricia is completely oblivious to what her brother is doing, or she knows, and is intrigued.
  • Dude, Not Funny: Regardless of what you think of the hauntings's validity, in the end you have to face the fact that this series exploited the tragic and horrible deaths of very real human beings to sell a second-rate spook story.
  • Idiot Plot: The family in Amityville 4 need to seriously have an IQ test, as they NEVER catch on to the various horrors going on, and instead blame each other.
  • Narm: in Amityville 2, the evil spirit possesses one of the characters causing his head to swell up like a beach ball and make him let out a very Richard Simmons-esque scream.
    • The vast majority of the fourth movie. Special mention goes the the scene where it is implied the evil lamp drew with crayons on the walls.
  • Newer Than They Think: This movie started the whole "houses built on Indian burial grounds will be haunted" thing.
  • Sequelitis: Series descended into it after the second movie.
