  • Values Dissonance: The degree to which Al Pratt was bullied about his short stature in The Golden Age of Comic Books is a little less understandable these days. Inverted in The Silver Age of Comic Books, where Jean Loring's refusal to marry Ray Palmer until she'd gotten a good start on her career was intended to be an unusual romantic obstacle at the time of publication but makes her a rather normal career woman in today's terms. (Of course, the stated reason Jean wants to have a career first is because she anticipates that she'll quit to Stay in the Kitchen once she's actually married.)
  • The Woobie: Palmer, after all the crap they've put him through in recent years.
