The Biggest Loser/Heartwarming

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Even a competitive show like The Biggest Loser is bound to have its share of Heartwarming Moments.

  • In the very first episode of Season 8, watching a group of strangers band together to ensure that Tracey finished the challenge is a sight to behold. Truly a case of "no man left behind" (well, "woman" in this case).
  • In the final episode before the Season 9 finale, Michael lost 23lbs, which put him at 299lbs. Why is this here? Becuase Michael started the season at 526 pounds, and stated in an earlier episode that the smallest he had ever been as an adult is 301 pounds. For this man to weigh less than 300 pounds for the first time in his adult life shows how important the process was to him.
  • For as divisive as Season 13 was, Mark was ready to surrender his spot on campus to keep his son Chism in the game when the latter faced automatic elimination. Crosses into Tearjerker territory since Chism outright defied his father's wishes understanding that his time on campus had come to an end, which Dolvett responded by saying: "That's a man speaking right there". That's got to be worth something coming from the trainer you never worked with all season. Considering he was one of the more polarising players that season, it does show that Mark does care about his son's well-being, and is arguably one of his redeeming qualities.
    • Ben sacrificing his place on campus in Week 1. Granted his reasons for doing so were mostly because of homesickness, but at the same time, it also kept 21 year old Megan in the game for longer (she had the lowest weight loss percentage on the Black Team that night, and feared she would be sent home).
    • Early that season, after Nancy was eliminated, Adrian made some off-colour comments about his teammates for voting for her, which pissed off the Red team since he chose the worst moment to say anything, causing tempers in the Red team to flare. Cue Chism trying to calm the situation by telling them (paraphrasing here): "Could you guys have some consideration for Cassandra please?! Her grandmother just left! God!" Seeing the youngest player that season try assert some authority over other players for the sake another is as touching as it is awesome.
  • In Season 14, the fact that Cate was there to console Nate after the latter had a rotten first workout in which he was kicked out of the gym, really says a lot about her considering the two aren't even on the same team.
  • Bob Harper coming out on TV as a gay man in episode 7 of Season 15 just to help Bobby overcome his own homosexuality definitely qualifies as this. It is kind of obvious to the viewer given the way Bob speaks, but it was the first time he spoke about it on national television.
    • From the same episode, Holley gave Bob a weightlifting jersey as a birthday present, demonstrating the bond between the two.
    • Of course, there's Ruben Studdard. Despite his celebrity status, he never uses it as an excuse to act superior, nor does he stick his nose up at his fellow contestants. He seemed to very happy to be around common folks, and is more than happy to joke around with them. Despite Dolvett's past experiences with famous people, Ruben was very open about his goals and his reasons for being on The Biggest Loser.
    • David's makeover in Season 15 was a major talking point, simply because his transformation was so drastic. Topped off by his daughters' reactions when they eventually realised that that was indeed, their father. You can tell he had been waiting for this moment all season.
