The Cinema Snob/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Base Breaker: Jake. Reading the comments, fans either love him or hate him. Plenty of people won't even watch videos that feature him due to his controversial viewpoints, and the ferocity with which he stands by them. Also, the swearing.
    • An even better example may be Josh, co-host of Radiodrome. A quick glance through the comments shows that his hatred of most things released after the 80's has earned him a large number of enemies amongst Brad's fans.
  • Complete Monster: Sam in Las Vegas Bloodbath and Chris and Celia in Island of Death.
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • His Twix commercial parody. He dies in the end.
    • The aptly named "A Very Inappropriate 80's Dan Christmas".
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: When Brad tastes "Not-See Kola" and proclaims that it tastes exactly like Crystal Pepsi, Van Halen's "Right Now" triumphantly bursts into the soundtrack.
  • Ear Worm: "Believe it or not, I'm walking on air..."
  • Ensemble Darkhorse:
    • Brad's cats.
    • Possibly 80's Dan.
    • Jake is one for "Team Snob", even getting to co-host the 2011 worst movies list. In the truest expression of this trope, Lloyd the cat ends up sitting on the lap for the review.
  • Fan Hater: Generally not, but he referred to the other people in his showing of Transformers: Dark of the Moon as "some of the dumbest motherfuckers in this town" specifically because they enjoyed the movie.
  • Funny Aneurysm Moment:
    • One episode of Brad & Jerrid is titled "Brad & Jerrid Hate Each Other", where the two of them (in-character) argue with each other over the film Tree of Life. This becomes rather awkward in retrospect after the two had a real-life falling out in early 2012 that led to Jerrid being kicked out of Team Snob.
    • A sub-plot in 80's Dan involves R.O.B. trying to break-up Mrs. Crabtree's marriage in order to get with her. Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree were played by a real-life husband and wife (Brian and Sarah) who broke up after the last episode of the series.
      • Brad getting kicked out of the house by Jillian for bashing Twilight is now pretty awkward to watch after Brad announced that he and Jillian have separated.
        • Although they seem to have gotten over this and are together currently.
  • Genius Bonus: Especially in his earlier reviews. If you get every reference to the many films that get name-dropped, bravo to you.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: His first Brad Tries video was of Mountain Dew White Out, which he disliked and thought would end up discontinued after the Dewmocracy promotion. That becomes hilarious when one learns that it, in fact, won the Dewmocracy contest and is now sold permanently in stores.
  • It's Popular, Now It Sucks: There are some fans declaring this ever since Brad joined up with That Guy With The Glasses. They call him a sell-out, mercilessly bashing anyone he works with.
  • Jerkass Woobie: The Snob, at his worst moments.
  • Memetic Badass:
    • Ward Bond shot down a German plane with a Tommy gun, shaved Hitler's mustache, and called him "Toots". It was a good week.
    • Pierre Kirby!
  • Narm Charm:
    • Pierre Kirby crying in Dressed to Fire.
    • Pierre Kirby, period.
  • Nausea Fuel: 80's Dan eating a 20-year-old McDLT covered in slimy green mold[1].
  • Never Live It Down:
    • Brad punching Lupa is already being referenced in other folks videos, and his own, too.
    • Jillian making a list of every time Jerrod laughed during The Change-Up is getting a similar treatment.
  • Saved by the Fans: 80's Dan.
  • Shipper on Deck: Rob, to Dan and Dolly:

Rob: You know, I don't understand why you two haven't banged yet.

  • Tear Jerker:
  • Unpopular Popular Character: 80's Dan is this in spades. In-universe, his friends are all annoyed by him, and they don't seem to hide that fact, either.
  • The Woobie:
    • "There's no such thing as happy dreams, right? Everyone has nightmares every night like me? Please tell me I'm normal."
    • R.O.B. in 80's Dan. He loves their neighbor Mrs. Crabtree, but she's married and anytime it looks like R.O.B. has a shot with her, her husband shows up. Also qualifies as Jerkass Woobie.
    • From the Midnight Screenings: Some consider Jake this... considering the movies he had to go see in Summer 2011.
