  • Ho Yay: Silas and Aringarosa. Fache and Collet. The first seems to go both ways. The second is more of a case of Collet sorta worshiping Fache and Fache, at first, thinking him not-so-great. The book and film go about it differently, but at the end of each, Fache's opinion of Collet has somewhat improved.
  • Marty Stu: Robert Langdon may be this.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: Since its release in 2003, the book as well as its film adaptation generated criticism and controversy over its portrayal of core aspects of Christianity and the history of the Catholic Church, leading to the book and/or the film being banned in several countries. It didn't help that Dan Brown asserted "99 percent" of the elements in his book were true, all despite of glaring inaccuracies and misrepresentations about the novel's subject matter.
    • One particular case was in the Philippines where Catholicism is widely practised. A group of Moral Guardians who call themselves the Philippine Alliance Against Pornography or PAAP even went so far as to branding The Da Vinci Code as not just "the most pornographic and blasphemous film in history", and if that isn't enough, they compared Dan Brown to Adolf Hitler.

  • The Problem with Licensed Games: The Game Of The Movie was a combination beat-em-up / puzzle game with a laughably Narmtastic script.
