  • The Cameo:
    • Mika Todd of Morning Musume and Mini Moni makes an appearance during the sequence when Harry and the Senshi defeat a trio of tentacle demons at a concert.
    • Azusa Kanzaki from Devil Hunter Yohko makes a brief appearance during a monster fight in Tokyo.
    • Prince William (age 14), as Hermione's Blind Date for the Valentine's Day Ball (and a second date, and possibly more).
    • Princess Diana makes a visit to the Grangers to find out more about the girl dating her son.
    • Mini Moni reappears as the "opening act" for Harry and Usagi's wedding.
  • Historical Domain Character: Princess Diana, Prince William.
  • Real Place Background: Apparently the S&M club to which Pluto sends Kodachi is (or was) a genuine establishment in business at the time Darth Drafter was writing.
  • Rouge Angles of Satin: Unfortunately littered throughout the story, but easy enough to ignore.
  • Shout-Out: Many, many. Note that the following only includes shout-outs that appear in the story proper; nothing from the various omake is listed here.
    • The story of an evil wizard who fell into the Spring of Drowned Chicken ends with reference to "eleven herbs and spices".
    • Hermione's presentation on Asian magic to the Weasleys and the Order of the Phoenix includes a few:
    • Harry and Ranma trade Star Wars quips when Harry wakes up after his first possession by Usagi.
    • When Cologne smacks Ranma on the noggin with her staff, the narration makes reference to her "stick-to-the-head" -- "a technique not unlike the somewhat better known Boot-to-the-Head".
    • The Amazons carefully measure the Drowned Girl and Drowned Rabbit water they mix for the Death Eaters they've captured because "they wanted prisoners, not Pokémon".
    • Harry has dreams where he is Shinji Ikari and Invader Zim, without recognizing either of them.
    • Cuteness reveals she can see ghost!Usagi by telling Harry "I see dead people."
    • The narrative voice -- or maybe it's Harry's own thoughts, it's hard to tell -- refers to Usagi at one point as "The Ghost of Marriage Future".
    • When the Senshi learn that Harry can switch hair and eye colors around using magic, Minako wants to look like Rei Ayanami.
    • Minako sings a couple lines of Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" to tease Harry.
    • On one of his first vigilante patrols as "Teen Witch", Harry almost collides in mid-air with Lum, who apparently doesn't notice "her".
    • The proprietor of the magical shop Harry and Ami discover in Tokyo appears to be a member of Yoda's species.
    • At one point, Setsuna refers to the late Queen Serenity as "Senny". Future!Harry does as well, after spending several centuries dead in her company.
    • In the same conversation, Setsuna notes that it's probable that Usagi's parents already knew she was Sailor Moon because of a talking cat teaching her the basics in her bedroom every night.
    • Ghost!Usagi sings "Lucky Cha Cha Cha!" by Mini Moni after her first "almost-sex" with Harry and references the miniseries Minimoni de Bremen Ogatkutai for which it was the theme song.
    • Hermione deduces that Setsuna is a "chrono-mage", referencing Ozzallos' fic A Time Apart.
    • Once Luna Lovegood is on the scene there is an extended set of references to Monty Python and the Holy Grail, starting with her cousins Dingo and Zoot, who attend a magic school called "Anthrax" near Tintagel, which is known for its textiles program. At their request she has been making a Grail-shaped beacon. Later, there is discussion of being exposed to "a little peril". And then later we learn that Hermione's "Head Girl" sexual fantasy involves "spankings, then oral sex".
    • Usagi notes that Luna's paintings in her room include youma, pokémon and Totoro. (Rather than being signs of second sight, though, at least some are probably influenced by a mass of stickers Harry put on a letter he sent her from Tokyo earlier in the story.)
    • When at the Wizengamot a very physical Usagi demands Harry kiss her, he replies, "As you wish, your worshipfullness."
    • Upon seeing Princess Usagi for the first time, Narcissa Malfoy's thoughts eventually reach "Where was a poisoned apple when you needed one?"
    • When Luna figures out Cuteness is from the future, she asks Harry for a Scooby snack.
    • There's a several-line call out to Monty Python‍'‍s "Cheese Shop" sketch during Harry's meeting with Minister Scrimgeour.
    • More Python shows up when Fred and George recite "nudge-nudge, wink-wink, say no more, say no more".
    • During a Flash Forward, we find that Harry's first death is at the hands of a "watery tart" who "lobbed a sword at him", who is later called a "moistened bint".
    • The title of Violence Inherent in the System is of course yet another reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and it continues to sprinkle further references to the film throughout the narrative.
    • Usagi and Harry start referring to each other as "Buttercup" and "Dread Pirate Roberts" in private moments, and they knowingly use "as you wish" as well.
    • One reason Colin Creevey is happy with having Myrtle as a girlfriend is that his first sexual stirrings occurred while watching the ghostly blowjob scene in the original Ghostbusters.
    • Luthien Greengrass is named for a character from The Silmarillion.
    • After the first time Nabiki and Cuteness have a conversation after which Cuteness flies off on her broom, Nabiki's photographer refers to her as "Kiki".
    • There's another instance of "nudge-nudge wink-wink" when Hermione is busy trying to establish some plausible deniability for helping Harry (and Ranma and Shampoo) against the giants invading Hogsmeade. When Ron finishes the sequence, it's made clear that everyone is knowingly participating in a group quotation from Monty Python.
    • Luna claims Harry's Guardian Angel has named himself "Luke", for Luke Skywalker.
    • Ron recounts a story of the time when he was much younger when he had a chance to see a TV show that sounds like it might have been a rerun of Dad's Army.
    • Harry tells Luna she can make use of a decades-old Lovegood-Potter marriage contract if she goes back in time to when he's eight or so, rescues him from the Dursleys, and gives him all the love he was missing. This is a reference to the fanfic Luna's Hubby by Meteoricshipyards.
    • Harry explains that to do something like resurrect Usagi and Myrtle, "All you need is love".
    • Harry compares Hermione to Martin Luther and suggests "nailing essays to a door" as a way to start a social movement.
    • The author notes that he has a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in chapter 9 of Violence Inherent in the System.
    • Voldemort's wedding to Narcissa Malfoy incorporates elements from the wedding ceremonies in both Flash Gordon and Beetlejuice.
    • Harry compares himself to Scrooge McDuck and bets there's a spell to let him swim in all his gold, just because it's the kind of thing purebloods would do.
    • Chapter 10 of Violence reportedly has, in addition to the shout-outs already listed here, references to Time Bandits and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
    • When Setsuna pranks Usagi by telling her she's about to marry Ron, Usagi emits "the sound of ultimate suffering".
    • When visiting the Ministry for the election of the new Minister, Harry tells the phone booth entry system that his (and the Senshi's) purpose there that day is "to have fun storming the castle".
    • When Hermione finally gives in and uses the Luna Disguise Pen to give her a needed advantage in teaching, she asks it to turn her into the Muggle equivalent to a cursebreaker. It turns her into Lara Croft -- who turns out to be a real person.
    • The spell chanted by Voldemort and Rookwood during one of their experiments in creating an avatar-powered witch comes from the film Willow.
    • Umbridge is made the "ambassador" to the Knights Who Say "Ni".
    • When Pluto describes the benefits of waging economic warfare (particularly against the Death Eaters), Harry asks, "All their bases will belong to us?"
    • Chapter 20 of Violence starts with an extended sequence of the Senshi and the British magicals facing Gozer in Tokyo, only instead of the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, they get Po from The Teletubbies (thanks to Minako). When they defeat it, the narrative voice soberly announces "The stop-motion peril was no more." And after that, Ghostbusters is confirmed to still be a franchise In-Universe (as well as Colin's favorite movie).
    • At one point Hermione says, "It's not like I expected the Spanish Inquisition", then stops Harry from quoting the follow-up line, to his disappointment.
    • A yakuza lieutenant, while threatening Nabiki, says "Don't keep me waiting, Miss Tendo. My dearly departed wife kept me waiting once. Once."
    • There are numerous shout-outs to other Magical Girl series in the crowd of attendees for Harry and Usagi's wedding.
      • Mary Riddle gets in line not far behind the cast of Magic User's Club, and finds herself next to Hikaru, Fuu and Umi from Magic Knight Rayearth, with whom she chats for a while (and later uses as catspaws).
      • Wedding Peach gets hit by one of her spells.
      • Nanoha nails her with a Divine Buster, ending her attempt to crash the wedding.
