Characters from The Goonies include:
- Early Teen Hero: All but the three oldest members of the principal cast.
Principal Goonies
Mikey
The Hero, it's his dream to find One-Eyed Willy. The Heart, encouraging the Goonies to stick to the quest.
Mouth
The Lancer. Talkative and abrasive, his skill in Spanish makes him the Cunning Linguist of the team.
Data
The Smart Guy. Bungling Inventor, his Homemade Inventions sometimes save the day, or fail hilariously.
Chunk
Kid Appeal Character. As a klutzy Big Eater and the boy who cried wolf, others rarely take him seriously. He befriends Sloth and they adventure together as a comic Brains and Brawn pair.
Other Main Characters
Brand
The Big Guy. Mikey's big brother, who as the eldest tries to be Team Dad when that responsibility is needed.
Andy
The Chick. A cheerleader who is the interest of the Jerk Jock but who actually likes Brand.
Stef
A somewhat snarky girl who wears Nerd Glasses. She's friends with Andy and, like her, doesn't usually associate with the Goonies.
Sloth
Originally the scary Madman in the Attic, but is revealed to be more of a Gentle Giant after becoming friends with Chunk. He joins the Goonies like a Sixth Ranger, adding some Dumb Muscle to their side when they confront the Fratellis.
The Fratellis
Ma Fratelli
Evil Matriarch The leader of the Fratelli gang, and mother of Jake, Francis and Sloth
Francis
Wears a toupee, but denies it. apparently the 'favored' son.
Jake
Broken out of jail at the beginning of the movie. Likes to sing Italian opera.
Important minor characters
Mrs. Walsh
Overly energetic and paranoid when it comes to Mikey's alleged asthma.
Mr. Walsh
The curator of the local history museum.
Mr. Perkins
The main antagonist, wants to develop a golf course where the Goonies live.
Troy Perkins
The Jerk Jock, son of Mr. Perkins, has a crush on Andy and isn't afraid to admit it, likes to upskirt Andy (or look down at her cleavage) by tilting the car mirror.
Rosalita
The Hispanic cleaning person hired by Mikey's mother (doesn't speak English)
The sheriff
Understandably (and justifiably) doesn't believe Chunk when Chunk tells him he's locked in the Fratelli's basement (until the phone call gets abruptly cut off, then shows some concern). But he still doesn't believe in the pirate ship until he (and everyone else) saw it out in sea.
