The Secret Saturdays/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Complete Monster: V.V. Argost, big time. He has absolutely no problem trying to kill a little kid the entire series until he discovers said kid is actually Kur, but then the plan to get his powers does require killing him anyway. And he kills off Zak Monday onscreen as well, who is Zak's age. He may have been evil but still! Goes even further when its ultimately revealed that Argost is a Yeti who killed Drew's parents and killed a great many people as well. The discovery of his lair filled with trophies from his kills is so terrible even Van Rook is sickened by it! What's worse? He did it for the sick enjoyment of killing.
  • Creator Worship: Jay Stephens receives TONS of this as an active member of the Toon Zone forums.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Doyle. It's generally agreed that his addition to the team was a welcomed improvement for the show.
  • Evil Is Sexy: Abby Gray after her Face Heel Turn.
  • Growing the Beard: The show, already good, improved a lot when Doyle joined the team.
  • Idiot Plot: When the Secret Scientists took the Kur Stone away from Argost 11 years prior to the start of the show, why didn't they smash in into a fine powder so that Argost could never possibly recover the thing, instead of just breaking into three pieces to hide?
  • Magnificent Bastard: V.V. Argost. A man who oozes charisma and actually manages to come out ahead of the heroes in multiple episodes.
  • Needs More Love
  • Nightmare Fuel: Terror, thy name is V.V. Argost. Owlman as well.
    • Everyone from the Monday Family also.
    • The Engulfer episode is made of this.
  • So Okay It's Average: the show is just okay in general: its high points being great dialogue (almost always from Zak, Doyle, or Fiskerton) and creativity while its low points are its somewhat limited animation and slow character development. Season two is definitely an improvement but it still hasn't quite grabbed the viewers' attention.
  • Tear Jerker: Van Rook's Heroic Sacrifice to save Drew's life, and dying right after admitting he loved her.
  • Toy Ship: Zak and Wadi.
