The Simpsons (animation)/Recap/S06/E14 Bart's Comet

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

When Bart decides to pull off a prank during the launching of a weather balloon, he’s ordered to help Skinner with his amateur astronomy project. However, Bart soon finds a comet… that’s on a collision path with Springfield. It’s only a matter of time before Springfield is doomed… or is it?

Tropes used in The Simpsons (animation)/Recap/S06/E14 Bart's Comet include:
  • Accidental Hero: Bart tells “Super Friends” to turn around to see his comet, TWICE, giving them reason to worry. Homer also gets everyone out the bomb shelter after he was disgusted by the actions the people in there had. He went to give Ned company on his “final hours”, only for his theory of the comet to not only to be accurate but destroys the shelter.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: Bart messes up Skinner’s years of astronomy by playing around with the telescope and finds a comet.
  • Big No: Skinner screams this about four times in one scene.
  • Book Dumb: Bart as usual, you think he would’ve destroyed any evidence of his creation of his prank yet he was able to find a comet within seconds.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Homer leaves the shelter to find Ned after being disgust.
  • Tempting Fate: Skinner tells the kids to destroy the embarrassing weather balloon, but they had to because of his car. The kids had to use rock, which Nelson and Jimbo pretty much couldn’t resist.
  • Too Dumb to Live: After the bridge is accidentally destroyed by the missile meant for the comet, many people tried to flee anyways by heading to the bridge.
