The Three Relics/Characters

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

What Pokemon: The Three Relics lacks in the department of a coherent overarching plot, it makes up for with a plethora of characters.

  • Adorkable
  • Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny
  • Action Girl: Is more likely to be the one doing the rescuing nowadays, though she has had her Damsel in Distress moments.
  • Badass Adorable: Can definitely hold her own in a Pokemon battle, and she's actually pretty able to defend herself when Pokemon aren't an option.
  • Badass Normal: She has no special powers whatsoever, unless you count The Power of Friendship/Love/Trust or her natural talent for Cooldown Hugs.
  • Berserk Button: Do not insult or put Mike down in front of her. This generally can be applied to anyone she cares for, but Mike is a special case.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She may not look like much, but she really is one of the most powerful trainers in the roleplay. Beware indeed.
  • Blue Eyes
  • Break the Cutie
  • Buffy-Speak: considering that her player is guilty of this daily in Real Life, it's not a coincidence that Kasiya shares this trope.
  • Cain and Abel: Well, her sister IS evil...
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Pretty much whenever another female looks at either Mike or Keegan, but it's usually played out more when she's around the redhead.
  • Cooldown Hug: She is very good at giving these, having calmed down Mike, Nina and even Keegan at some point with these.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Cute Pokemon are Kasiya's weakness, though what she considers to be 'cute' is often up for debate
  • Daddy's Girl
  • Damsel in Distress: Only on occasion, but since being rescued by Mike, she tends to hold her own and usually can be found in the role of the rescuer.
  • Deadpan Snarker: But really, who isn't?
  • Determinator: Operation Rescue Shocker, and her unstoppable drive to make sure that her friends remain together.
  • The Ditz: She can be really intelligent sometimes, but other times, not so much.
  • Fluffy Tamer: You can apply this to some of her more monstrous Pokemon, and Keegan.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: mostly when it comes to other girls so much as looking at Keegan.
  • The Glomp: Raise your hand if you haven't been glomped by Kasiya at one point or another. Her and Sasha should start a wrestling team. Or wrestle each other...*cough*
  • Grand Theft Me: Mai's body switching mania.
  • Hair of Gold
  • Ho Yay: Kasyia has either started understanding and enjoying Sasha's overt advances or just accepted that they're gonna happen one way or another.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: ...you've SEEN her dad, right?
  • The Klutz: She's probably hurt herself more times than most characters combined, and usually because she got distracted by something shiny. Accident prone hardly begins to describe it.
  • Love Triangle: Kasiya, Mitsu, Mike; Kasiya, Flannery, Mike. (Sensing a pattern?)
  • Opposites Attract: Kasiya and Keegan.
  • Plucky Girl: It's hard to keep this girl depressed most of the time.
  • Power of Friendship
  • Power of Love
  • The Power of Trust
  • Rapunzel Hair: At least until she chopped most of it off.
  • Romantic Runner-Up: Initially, she fully believed that Mitsu was Mike's choice, though this was before learning of Mike's feelings for Flannery. Now with him fully admitting feelings for her, the poor girl just doesn't know how to feel.
  • The Heart: Kasiya is often the glue that holds the rest of the characters together.
  • The Reliable One
  • Security Cling: she has probably clung to most characters at one point or another. Works better for her than a Cooldown Hug ever could, even though she is pretty good at giving them.
  • Ship Tease: At one point, with most members of the main cast: Mike, Kilik, Jaeshan, Crenu and even Sasha.
  • Shock and Awe: her preferred type of Pokemon, though at this point she only has 2.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Mike, obviously. Lampshaded by Mitsu, Serenity, Keegan, Mai and even Mike himself at times.

  • Ascended Extra: He started off as just a random trainer encountered by Kasiya, then became a fully fleshed out character.
  • Berserk Button: Keegan seems to have a masterful talent at pushing this, often calling him 'Jae' just to piss him off. Jerkass.
  • Blue Eyes
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Normally Jaeshan looks all sweet and normal and unassuming and even goofy and comical, but watch out if you make him mad. His Pokemon team (pre-amnesia, of course) is pretty formidable as well, showcasing his talents at Pokemon training.
  • Determinator: Jae was pretty easygoing in the beginning, but it's very nearly his defining trope now that he's struggling to regain his memories.
  • Good Parents: At first it was implied that Jaeshan's parents were strict and harsh about him having a "good future" (they'd forced him into med school to become a neurosurgen) but once he told them he wanted to be a Pokemon trainer, they pretty much shrugged and said "all right!" and since have been incredibly supportive of his career.
  • Hair of Gold
  • Identity Amnesia: And how. Poor boy can't even remember his name, birthday, hometown, Pokemon, friends or possible allergies, which sparked a humorous scene in which he panicked over getting anaphalactic shock and dying from an apple.
  • I Just Want to Be Special
  • Insistent Terminology: The only person in the world that's not allowed to call him 'Jae' is Keegan, because for some reason, it really, really pisses him off *cough*Berserk Button*cough*.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Not really by choice, but more because the other kids in town considered him to be a Rich Bitch or Royal Brat. This is obviously not the case, as Jae is the traditional nice-guy type.
  • Nice Guy - Lampshaded by some, at various points.

"The redhead shook his head and scoffed. Jaeshan trying to steal Kasiya away from him? The very thought was ridiculous, not to mention highly unlikely. He didn't want to use the term 'pushover', but Jaeshan was way too, well, Mr. Nice-guy to ever try to pull anything like that." Keegan's Inner Monologue

  • Non-Action Guy: He helped out a bit during the Slateport incident at first, and then decided to call it a day and went swimming at a hotel pool instead.
  • Quest for Identity
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: He's the blue to Keegan's red.
  • Ship Tease: Kasiya, Ryka, Sasha, Robin, Jade. He is a good-looking guy, after all.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Type 2, with Keegan. Generally they see each other as rivals and worthy opponents, but they do respect each other on some level, and will help the other out if necessary.

"It’s strange. You never question what you see first. It’s your initial image, your comfort. When something changes, you lose that comfort, that stability. You struggle to maintain that balance. You claw at that fleeting normalcy you’ve created in your mind, which fades, never to be seen again. It is only then that you realize that it was never there to begin with. How we cope with that change determines who we are. Should we accept it and try to move on; the thought ever present, nibbling at the back of our mind, or should we reject it? Deny that it happened? Change is an illusion, an internal inconsistency. Nothing truly changes because we never stop thinking long enough to let it"

Mike is a small-town boy from Lavaridge who seems to constantly draw the short stick in the lottery of life. When he was a young boy, he fell head over heals in love with the young Flannery, which sort of...consumed his entire life. It was a completely healthy longing. Maxie, the leader of Team Magma, saw this and decided to use it to his advantage. Promising him a safer world for his beloved, he had the young boy work for him and steal the Red Orb (an ancient relic that helped contain a powerful Pokemon: Groudon). On the eve of Mike's 14'th birthday, Maxie released Groudon, causing the city of Lilycove to be nearly destroyed. Mike saw hundreds die in front of him as buildings crumbled and waves washed over the city. Overwhelmed by horror and guilt, Mike fled back home, where for the next few years, lived in constant paranoia of everyone finding out his involvement in what was now known as the Lilycove Incident. Over that time he slipped further into madness, soon being tormented by a creation of his own mind: Milo. Milo, appearing as a phantom, constantly assailed the boy with grief over his misdeeds. Eventually, unable to take it anymore, he fled to Kanto, disguising his trip as the usual Pokemon adventure. All worked out fine for a while, but soon his past caught up with him. Unable to take anymore of it, Mike completely snapped, going through an almost entire personality override as his entire life crashed and burned around him and he struggles with Milo's increasing hold on him.

Magnezone "Proton"

Ampharos "Beacon"

Typhlosion "Felsic"

Crawduant "Xanthos"

Omanyte "Camerae"

Kecleon "Powalski"

  • Achilles' Heel: Water, thanks to his acquired Pyrokenisis. Contact with his skin causes steam, and leaves reddened and bubbled skin. Too much water can kill him. He doesn't like to play in a rain or go near the ocean so much anymore.
  • Aerosol Flamethrower: His mother, an inventor, invented him a pair of gloves that shoot fire from them, claiming they were for his self defense. At first, Mike thought they were ridiculous and dangerous, but they turned out to be very useful.
    • He used them to help breakout of the Saffron Mental Hospital by tricking the orderlies who thought they were normal gloves into letting him keep them on, then burning his straight jacket and torching his padded cell.
  • Ax Crazy: Boy is he! Milo's influence has turned him into a very violent, very unstable person.
  • Back from the Dead: Thank you Moltres.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: Mike and Keegan as they dish out the hurt on Team Magma grunts.
  • Bad Dreams: Plagued by them after returning home to Hoenn. Most of them included the Lilycove Incident
  • Battle Couple: With Kasiya. The two are very close.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: Milo, claiming to be Mike's true self, is constantly trying to take over as the dominant, and only personality of his mind. When Mike becomes overly fatigued or emotionally overwhelmed, Milo sometimes takes the wheel while he recovers.
  • Berserk Button: Don't hurt Flannery. Or Kasiya. Or make fun of his retarded Ampharos. Or read his mind. That one really sets him off.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Averted hard. Since Mike's swan dive into madness, he's always been described with matted, blood-soaked hair, ragged clothes and cuts and scrapes all over him. His lack of ability to properly bathe and wanted status as a criminal also get in the way of him cleaning up.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: For most of the story, Mike was calm, friendly, and never prone to any sort of outbursts. It turns out, that this wasn't exactly the real him.
  • Break the Cutie
  • Breath Weapon: His hidden weapon to those who don't know of his powers. Utilized when he set a Team Magma grunt's hair on fire when she believed she had the upper hand in a fight.
  • Burning with Anger: Following his resurrection at the hands of Moltres and his unintentional acquisition of pyrokenisis, whenever Mike is angry or distressed, smoke will begin to pour from his scars, and the air around him will ripple with heat. Should he start to sweat or cry, it will quickly evaporate.
  • Catch Phrase: “Ready Set?” before almost every Pokemon battle.
  • Character Development: Done hard with Mike's descent into complete insanity. The player claimed he was not happy with Mike's potential as a Gary Sue, and decided to expand on his backstory, and twist the barely mentioned childhood crush into something much darker.
  • Childhood Friends: Keegan, Flannery, Winona.
    • When they were kids, Mike, Flannery and Keegan called themselves "The Trio" and got into all sorts of silly kid trouble.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: Mike can be seen as quite the ladies man due to the fact that early on in the story he had as many as three girls crushing on him at one time.
  • Characterization Marches On: It is a bit jarring seeing a completely stable Mike early in the story, especially when you know how bad it is going to hit the fan later.
  • Cruel Mercy: What Mike claims to be doing when he savagely beats members of Team Magma during his quest to bring Maxie to justice, saying that he is saving them from eventually being used like he was. The extent of his violence makes this a bit hard to believe, however.
  • Cursed with Awesome: Man it just sucks to be graced with the blessing of an immortal fire bird who sees great worth in you when pretty much no one else does, have a second chance at life, and get superpowers out of the deal! WAAAHHH!!
  • Custom Uniform: His mother wove flame-retarded fibers into his clothes to help protect him due to his fondness for Fire Pokemon. That and his outfit makes him look like a 50's sports car. (He produces enough exhaust, after all.)
    • His Team Magma outfit is customized to have a face mask, a long red scarf, and flame decals on his pants.
  • Dark and Troubled Past
  • Death by Origin Story: His father, Robert. When Maxie and Archie summoned Groudon and Kyogre, he went to the Sky Pillar and summoned Rayquaza, which stopped the feuding Groudon and Kyogre from further destroying Lilycove, but he never returned and is presumed dead. So now Mike lives knowing that his actions caused his loving father's death. What is even more heartbreaking is that Robert went specifically because he knew his son was in Lilycove at the time, and never knew of Mike's involvement in the whole incident, or if he had managed to save him at all.
  • Dragon Rider: Charizard are awesome.
  • Dramatic Irony: Despite having a great admiration and love for fire and fire Pokemon, when he was revived and discovered he had pyrokenisis, his initial reaction was one of horror, as he felt it was now impossible to be close to those he cared about. His opinion of it began to shift slightly when he found out he could now hug and pet his Fire Pokemon without harm.
  • Emotion Bomb: Mike's snap was so intense his pain could be felt by Nina and Sabrina, who were on the other side of the continent at the time.
  • Enemy Within
  • Evil Feels Good: As Mike began to give in to his darker side, he became frightened that he was actually beginning to enjoy it on some level, much to the delight of Milo.
    • For example, when Mike was facing off against some Magma Grunts in his mission to stop Maxie, he set a girl's hair on fire, cackling hysterically as he did.
  • Fighting From the Inside: Done quite literally when Mike fought a two-pronged battle against Maxie while Milo (projected by Portabello) kept his friends at bay by commanding his other Pokemon.
  • Freak-Out: Mike's entire secret past was revealed by Giovanni (on national television no less) to everyone at the Slateport Beach Party, including Flannery and his closest friends. Her reaction was (understandably) disgust and she left him in front of the entire world, but not before calling him sick and kicking dirt in his face as he begged for her to understand. Mike's brain shattered. Milo resurfaced almost instantly, took over, and went on a rampage, attacking people around him and slamming his head so many times into the ground that it left a massive scar on his forehead.
    • This was exactly what Giovanni had planned, as Mike and his friends were beginning to get too close to sabotaging their plans, and he needed a way to split the group.
  • Freud Was Right: Mike's player has stated Milo is basically Mike's Id gone awry, as most of what Milo wants and tries to accomplish are hedonistic desires.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Mike's newer methods of problem solving involve either violently dissuading people from the dark path, or scaring the ever-loving shit out of them with threats or psychological torment.
  • Go Out with a Smile: Mike's final thought before he died was that the mental silence that came before it was wonderful, as he has been plagued by Milo and other voices for years.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Milo.
  • Guardian Entity: Amusingly, Milo fits this role. He has halted Mike's attempts at suicide and takes over his body should the kid become too stressed or tired. While this is merely out of self-preservation (because Milo knows that if Mike were to die he too would cease to exist), it still counts.
  • Hellish Pupils: Or lack therof. When Mike is at the apex of his insanity, his pupils almost disappear, leaving his eyes frighteningly similar to Milo's.
  • Helpless Good Side: Mike, when Milo is in control of his body.
  • Heroic BSOD: There have been times when Mike has become so overloaded with emotion that he simply shuts down, going limp and collapsing on the spot.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Only because there isn't a trope for someone who hates himself so much that his brain invented a shadowy twin form of himself whose sole purpose is to berate, torture, and fill his mind with doubt about everything he will ever do because that's all he feels he deserves.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: Maxie makes a mocking jab at Mike along these lines, claiming that the more Mike struggles against the evils in the world, the more he'll have to rely on his inner darkness to defeat them.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Mike commented before his Gym Battle that Watson laughs too much.
  • Hot-Blooded: Literally. His flame powers are caused by his blood reacting explosively to the air around him, which is why he always radiates heat, and his scars seep smoke.
  • Identity Amnesia: Mike's will to run away was so potent that on the boat ride to Kanto, he temporarily lost his memory of his past, including his love of Flannery, which had shaped his entire life up until that point.
  • Imaginary Friend: from hell.
  • Inhuman Human
  • Insanity Immunity: When Mike is in full on psycho-mode, he showcases ridiculous resilience, going so far as to snap his broken nose back into place and laugh it off, and at another point continue fighting with multiple broken bones and a knife in his arm, not even noticing that knife was there until after he'd beaten down his opponent, then pulling it from his arm without hesitation.
  • Interrupted Suicide: Has tried to kill himself to make the world a better place. Twice. Both times he was halted by Milo because he would also die if Mike succeeded.

"Whether we like it or not, you've got to continue living. To continue suffering. You wouldn't want your friends to get hurt now would you? To break their hearts?"

  • Iron Butt Monkey
  • It Got Worse: Come home from accidentally razing a city and nearly killing everyone you love? Surprise! Happy Birthday! Here's a Charmander! Oh, and we can't find your father after he left to try to fix everyone dying in Lilycove. You wouldn't know anything about that would you, Mike? We're just so glad you're okay. He'll be so happy when he gets back. Now go sit by Keegan and Flannery.
  • Jekyll and Hyde
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Has dared two evil teams to save his friends Kasiya and Sasha. Once alone, the other with the help of Kilik.
  • Laughing Mad: It pretty much hasn't stopped since the Beach Party.
  • Limp and Livid
  • Literal Split Personality
  • Love Makes You Crazy: AND HOW.
  • Love Is a Weakness: Maxie knew this, and exploited his love for Flannery to get him to join Team Magma.
  • Madness Mantra: “Just smile and laugh. Just smile and laugh. Just smile and laugh. Just smile and laugh. Just smile and laugh.” Warped from a phrase his mother used to console him as a child.
  • Meaningful Name: Kyoka means 'firebrand'.
  • Mind Rape: Milo does this to Mike almost daily, mostly by taunting him with extremely vivid hallucinations of people he loves rejecting him or dying.
    • This accidentally happened to Nina when she got near Mike, unknowing about his meltdown. The sudden psychic influx caused her brain to be overwhelmed and rendered her helpless for a moment.
  • Morality Pet: His Pokemon. Despite his newfound psychosis, he continues to treat them with care and praise.
  • Motif: Notice the flames on his clothes and that most of his team consists of Fire Pokemon?
  • My Greatest Failure
  • Near-Rape Experience: Milo almost had his way with Winona after pretending to be Mike and assaulting her, only to be foiled as Mike resurfaced, leading to quite the shock.
  • Nietzsche Wannabe: Milo. He feels that everything Mike holds dear is pointless, and that he is basically trying to take over and ruin Mike's life to prove that.
  • Painful Transformation: Mike's resurrection was done so with a good deal of Moltres's personal essence, and altered his body slightly because of the phoenix's natural power over fire. When it first surfaced, it did so by forcing flames out of pretty much every orifice on his body, including his eyes. The transition afterward was just as unpleasant, as his entire body was basically forcing all of his old blood out by means of his new high pressurized blood boiling it to the surface. Because of this, Mike's wounds eject smoke, and he has vomited molten bile more than once, likening it to the “worst case of acid reflux he's ever had times a thousand”.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: He has always left a trail of complete destruction wherever he goes, even before he went completely insane.
    • One such incident was when the group chose to invade the Team Rocket base on Five Island, and rather than learn the password, Mike chose to release his Steelix, and demolish the entire front of the building. This deed was met with a combined look of horror from Nina, Sabrina, and Mitsu, but not Kasiya, who gave him a thumbs up. What a surprise.
  • Playing with Fire
  • Plucky Comic Relief: What he was before his mind fractured. That changed.
  • Power Source: Using his powers causes him to lose blood. If he uses it too much, it leaves him weak.
  • Pyromaniac
  • Psychic Link: Of sorts with his Breloom, Portabello. Mike communicates with his telepathic Pokemon mentally in fights and uses him to translate his other Pokemon's speech.
  • Psychoactive Powers: Mike's flame powers become more intense the more emotional he is.
  • Psychotic Smirk
  • Redemption Quest: Mike wants to take down Maxie and all of Team Magma to make up for what has happened.
    • However, this turned out to be a cover for the missions real purpose: which was for Mike to remove both Maxie, himself and Milo from the equation permanently. This was foiled by Portabello, who shielded Mike from the attack that would have killed them both.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Getting dumped on national television by the very girl he obsessively spent his entire life trying to protect behind the scenes after pleading on his hands and knees that he only had the best intentions.
  • Resurrection Sickness: Moltres resurrecting him caused a bit of an accident. So to speak.
  • Sanity Slippage: Started the instant his friends mentioned traveling to Hoenn, specifically Lavaridge.
  • Scars Are Forever: His smoke-seeping forehead scar.
  • Self-Harm: It's his favorite. His method of choice? Smashing his head into solid objects.
  • Self-Insert Fic: Mike shares his first name and a physical similarity to his player, a fact that slightly embarrasses him now. The player states that another reason he underwent such a dramatic and frightening shift was to differentiate the character from the player.
  • Ship Tease: Mitsu and Kasiya.
    • Mike's bond with Kasiya is arguably the strongest out of everyone he cares about. The two make a terrific team and are almost inseparable. When everyone else around Mike abandoned him after his breakdown, Kasiya alone stood between him and Giovanni, still willing to protect him, and later was able to trace back the subtle clues from her time spent with Mike that he was never fully sane.
    • She even managed to one-up this by teaming up with Mike's mom and help him break out of the Saffron Mental Institute by attacking guards and covering his escape.
    • The pair pushed their relationship even further when they admitted their love for each other before the Team Magma assault. Mike's feelings for Kasiya carried over from his temporary amnesia and were so potent that it even had him questioning his love for Flannery. You know, the girl he leveled a city for.
  • Shonen Hair: For his cowlick, see Idiot Hair.
  • Slasher Smile
  • Split Personality
  • Stalker with a Crush: That's putting it lightly. From the shadows, Mike has set fire to the Lavaridge Gym so Flannery could put it out and feel brave, secretly caused a rockslide to help her catch her first Pokemon (nearly killing it in the process), left birthday presents on her windowsill every year, and decorated a cave in a nearby volcano with pictures of her. He also kept a mass of her pictures with him at all times in his backpack while he traveled.
  • Super-Powered Evil Side
  • Talkative Loon
  • Tear Jerker: When Mike's mom visits him in the Saffron Mental Institution, and Mike describes the scene when they took his Pokemon from him and how they fought back, and how Beacon, who is barely coherent at best, was calling for him as they pulled him back into his Pokeball, and begins to cry, lamenting what he thought was the permanent loss of his last remaining friends.
  • The Atoner
  • The Hyena
  • The Phoenix
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Milo frequently points out that no matter how much Mike refuses to admit it, he exists for a reason. That reason is that deep down, Mike is severely disturbed in one way or another and denying it only makes Milo (a manifestation of Mike's guilt and self-hatred) have a more powerful hold on him.
    • Epiphany Therapy: This ends up backfiring on him, as Mike eventually comes to the conclusion that he is indeed messed up, and that he accepts this, and will no longer try to deny it or be afraid of it. This decimates Milo's hold on him, and allows Mike to get rid of Milo by ripping him out of his head and become a more balanced, but equally (if not moreso) crazy individual.
    • This is because Milo is defeated by the "ghosts" of the Lilycove dead rising from the ground and tearing him to pieces, then sticking around. So in a sense, Mike traded one phantom for hundreds more.
  • The Runaway
  • The Sleepless: Mike becomes terrified of sleeping after Milo resurfaces, fearing he could be taken over the instant his guard is down. The few times he does sleep he is likely plagued with nightmares and wakes with a start, or forgets where he is and thinks he has been captured and put into an asylum again.
  • The Unintelligible: Some of his rants degenerate into babble, and his Character Blog is almost entirely this.
  • This Is Your Brain on Evil: Milo.
  • Through the Eyes of Madness: Being a figment of his own insanity, only Mike can see Milo. That is unless, someone near him has telepathy. If so, they are able to see him as plainly as Mike does.
    • This has a particularly potent effect on his Breloom, Portabello. The Pokemon can see Milo as clearly as Mike can, and violently despises him. Milo relishes in annoying the Breloom, and will go out of his way to piss him off through taunting or injuring Mike in some way.
  • Tragic Hero: Through his quest for love, Mike has unwittingly caused hundreds of deaths and countless trauma, causing him to go completely insane with guilt.
  • Troll: Milo is relentless with his verbal abuse, having taunted Keegan for each girl that he likes liking Mike better, the entire group of friends for accepting Kilik despite him personally killing someone in cold blood, and Sasha and Kirsa for being lesbians (even though they're not. Well, Kirsa isn't. Sasha's just special.) He does this in hopes that they will abandon Mike, and in his grief Milo can take control for good.
  • Trying to Catch Me Fighting Dirty
  • Turn in Your Badge: After the incident at Slateport, Mike was branded a criminal and as such, the Pokemon League suspended his license. Figuring he didn't need to play by the rules anymore, Mike withdrew two more Pokemon for the Magma mission, bringing his current total to 8.
  • Unwanted Revival: Yelled at Moltres for resurrecting him, claiming the world was better off without him and Milo terrorizing it.
  • Unwitting Pawn: To Maxie and Team Magma.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist
  • Would Set a Girl On Fire
  • You Are Not Alone: When his friends show up to make sure he's okay after he had disappeared, then agree to help him take down Maxie.
  • You're Insane!: Kirsa to Mike.
  • Your Mind Makes It Real: Mike fully believes that Milo is real, so much so that Milo can cause physical pain to Mike should he feel it necessary, or fun. Mostly the latter.

Sasha Jennings Beauchamp IV

Quoi? Personal space? Qu'est-ce que c'est?

"I'm sorry, Keegan. You must s'hink I'm a spoiled brat crying because I didn't get my way."

"Yeah, you're a bit spoiled, but it's part of your charm."

"You're such a gentleman."

-Keegan displays his expert social skills

Written by: Mikallen

Sasha Jennings Beauchamp IV was a girl born into riches. Her family has been the long-time owners of a large chain of hotels in the Kanto region, of which Sasha is next in line when her father retires. Unfortunately for her stuffy parents, Sasha is a bit too young and free-spirited for that right now. Rather than piano lessons, she likes the drums. Rather than ball-room dancing, she prefers the club scene. That isn't to say she's unable to act with class and refinement, she just prefers not to. Her biggest goal was to become a Pokemon trainer, but her parents wouldn't allow it. It soon came as a tremendous shock to all that in a fit of youthful fervor, Sasha ran away from home to begin her Pokemon journey.

"For once in your miserable life could you ever shut up!" Her green eyes flared up intensely as she screamed at the boy. "Here you are, tied to a tree, completely at my mercy and the first thing you do is start mouthing off! I don't understand how you could be such an idiot. Such a pervert! Such a worthless waste of space!" She smacked him again, for good measure. "You think you're the hottest thing on Earth, but I can all but guarantee that any woman would rather marry a Gyarados than be treated to lunch by a filthy mongrel like YOU! You'd have to pay me to even tell you what day it is! Everything about you is nothing short of repulsive. Your voice, your attitude, your posture, there is nothing about you that doesn't cause my blood to boil, and my lunch to rise up from my stomach!" Sasha lunged forward and grabbed the boy's cheeks harshly, her nails digging in slightly. "I don't think I've ever hated a single person more in my entire life. You're not getting that date, and it's because of my own stupid generosity that I didn't just dump you at the police station for you to rot." Sasha had to restrain herself from beating the kid with a nearby rock, and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. "Now, here's how it's going to happen. When I let go, you are going to tell me where you last saw Mike, where he's going, and how I can catch up to him. I want every piece of information you have on him. Anything other than that, and you stay tied to this tree until the Ekans find you." Her other hand brandished the tazer, its tips crackling with electricity. "Mike saved my life, he's a good person. He doesn't need unfeeling dregs like you following him around and stressing him out even more than he already is. It's in fact because of people like you that he even had that little episode yesterday. Now. Where. Is. He?"

  • I Just Want to Be Special: Her reason for running away from home was to make a name for herself as a Pokemon trainer, and not just because she was born into a rich family.
  • I Owe You My Life: To Mike and Kilik. It is why she was so willing to forgive them when their dark secrets were revealed, and why she agreed (albeit hesitantly) to go with Mike on his mission to take down Team Magma.
  • Jizzed in My Pants: That time when Kasiya accidentally fondled her in bed was just her being surprised, right? Right?
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Probably why she's so, um, open with her advances.
  • Lust Object: LOOK AT HER.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Serves somewhat as a foil to the player's other character.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: What are friends but places where you can rest your boobs?
  • Put on a Bus: After not knowing what to do with her, Sasha's player just sent her off somewhere, never to be seen again.
  • Rebellious Princess
  • Rewrite: What? Sasha was always French! And bisexual! I don't know what you're talking about.
  • Rose-Haired Girl: Not her real hair color, as evident from her modeling ID, which shows it as black.
  • Spoiled Sweet:
  • She's Got Legs: And isn't afraid to show them!
  • Ship Tease: Kasiya, Keegan and Kirsa. She has a thing for people with K names, apparently.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Needs to be if she wants to model. Which she is. So she is.
  • The Fashionista: She's a semi-professional model. Not like her income really matters, she just likes doing it to show off and make a name for herself.
  • The Four Loves: All she wants is love. At times, it doesn't seem to matter who it comes from.
  • The Nicknamer: Erika "Ma petite fleur", Kasiya "Mon coup de foudre peu", Mike "Mon petit héros", Kilik "Mon petit porc-épic", Kirsa "Mon cadet peu", Keegan "Mon petit monsieur"
  • The Runaway: Ran away from a life of luxury to get down and dirty with the lower class.
  • The Tease: Does this often. Backfires on her even more often. Being a model, she's pretty comfortable with showing a little skin to get what she wants.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Mushrooms. The fact that this intersects with her favorite type of Pokemon will lead you to some dark places if you think on it too much.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: Type D.

  • Aura Vision
  • Badass Normal: From a certain point of view. After training with Koga, Kilik has began to develop the ability to see the auras of his Pokemon, and at times is even able to momentarily see through their eyes. This could be considered a superpower, but it also could be argued that in the Pokemon universe, everyone has the latent ability of the Aura, but not everyone is able to utilize it.
  • Big Eater: On many occasions, Kilik has eaten enough to feed small armies, yet never seems to put on a pound.
  • Brainwashed: By Giovanni into joining Team Rocket, and eventually killing the Silph Co. president in cold blood.
  • Custom Uniform: Ever since hatching Elekid, Kilik has worn some form of yellow and black.
  • Family Business: His father, his father's father, and his father's father's father all were famous Pokemon Excavators. Kilik will not continue the trend.
  • Shonen Hair
  • Spiky Hair
  • Tall, Dark and Handsome
  • The Rival: To Mike. Kilik views Mike as his greatest adversary and close friend. This is played out mostly through the competition between their Pokemon Cable and Napalm, the two always battling to see which one is stronger, usually ending in a stalemate.
  • Younger Than He Looks: While looking at him based on height, the way he carried himself and acted, one would think he was at least 18. NOPE.

  • Battle Aura: It's blue!
  • Berserk Button: Don't kill Sabrina. You'd think that'd be pretty damn simple, but Team Rocket at times doesn't display the best judgement.
    • However, it turns out that she wasn't really dead, and that after getting shot, the Gym Leader put up a mental projection on Nina so she thought she was dead so she could continue her operations against Team Rocket in secret. This kinda backfired as Nina stormed the Viridian City Gym in hopes to find Giovanni and, well, have a nice chat. Mike, Kasiya and Flannery went to the rescue, but the girl was not in the best state of mind. Thankfully, the group stopped Nina before she hurt herself or anyone else in the process. Except that one grunt that shot Sabrina in the first place. Yeah...
    • Sabrina eventually revealed herself weeks later, much to the relief of the rest of the characters.
  • Heel Face Revolving Door: At times, Nina has a real problem figuring out whose side she's on.
  • Inspiration Nod: Elements of Nina's story are very reminiscent of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Nina's rampage after Sabrina's death was very similar to Willow's little romp after Tara's death, even down to the clothes and hair changing to black. Seeing her player's username, this should come as no surprise.
  • Luke, I Might Be Your Father: Evil immortal(?) asshole Maorde Menskr manipulated Nina in hopes to get her to side with him. It sort of worked, until she found out that he wasn't really her father.
  • Mind Over Matter
  • Paint It Black: When Nina thought that Sabrina was killed by Team Rocket.
  • Shout-Out: Nina and her Misdreavus are named after the Williams sisters of Tekken.
  • Tangled Family Tree: First she was Sabrina's sister, then she's not. Then she's Moarde's daughter, then she's not. Then she's some random moron's daughter, which makes her Whitney's sister maybe. Hell, we're pretty sure the player doesn't even know at this point.
  • Telepathy: Nina's most prevalent, outstanding skill that she has been developing from a very young age. She frequently uses it to communicate with her Pokemon-- most notably Anna-- as well as Sabrina.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair

The son of Lavaridge town's most prestigious Pokemon Breeders, Keegan grew up knowing the value (and annoyances) of a hard day's work. The work however, was not without its rewards. Growing up surrounded by skilled Pokemon caretakers led Keegan to have extensive knowledge on how to raise and train Pokemon. His two best friends growing up were Mike Kyoka and Flannery Moore, whom Keegan spent endless hours with. This friendship would be tested when Maxie, head of Team Magma, approached the two boys and tried to recruit them. Keegan saw through Maxie's ploy, but unfortunately his friend did not. This caused a rift between the two that would deeply affect Keegan. After that, he chose to become absorbed in his chores and seclude himself from the world around him. After befriending a newborn Vulpix whose breeder never showed up to claim, Keegan decided it was time for him to set out on his own Pokemon journey.

  • Abusive Parents: Todd Summers' treatment of his only son often bordered on abusive, if not for the grueling amount of work he gave him and the constant speeches. It's hinted at that Mr. Summers' physically assaulted his son, more than the dope slaps he's been given at times, and its entirely possible that this treatment is the main reason for Keegan's general outlook on life.
  • Achey Scars: During an early encounter with Team Rocket, he suffered a burn from Mitsu's Houndoom, Sapphire. Burns from these Pokemon do not heal and it continually caused him pain until Mitsu used her powers to heal him.
  • Anti-Hero: Type III
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: With Mike during the Team Magma mission.
  • Badass Longcoat: He's worn both the black and brown varieties.
  • Badass Normal
  • Berserk Button: Don't hurt Kasiya, or his little cousin, Miharu, or his Pokemon, or anyone he generally cares about because he will end you.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Towards Miharu. Even though she's actually his cousin, their relationship is closer to that of siblings.
  • Buffy-Speak: What happens when the character's player grew up watching Joss Whedon shows.
  • Childhood Friends: with Mike and Flannery, the third member of the aptly named 'Trio'.
  • Chivalrous Pervert
  • Combat Pragmatist: There was that one time where the briefcase he was proctecting turned into a handy-dandy-face-cracking weapon.
  • Dating Catwoman: Mai.
  • Deadpan Snarker
  • Delinquent
  • Dream Within a Dream: During his, uhm, therapy session with Mai, he woke up a few times, only to find out that he was still dreaming.
  • Face Palm: Often.
  • Farm Boy: He grew up on a Pokemon breeding ranch. While not quite a farm, his daily chores were close enough to make it count.
  • Fight Magnet: It's not Keegan's fault that people are eager to introduce their faces to his fist, though his Deadpan Snarker trait may have something to do with this.
    • Lampshaded by Kasiya and mostly anyone who's in his company for at least an hour or so.
  • Fluffy the Terrible
  • Good Is Not Nice
  • Genre Savvy
  • Green Eyed Red Head
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: It really doesn't take much to piss Keegan off.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: He is a pretty big fan of mocking himself.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: could almost be considered a catch phrase at times.
  • Inner Monologue: It rarely ever shuts off.
  • Jerkass: Part of his charm, really. Often treads into Jerk with a Heart of Gold territory, though.
  • Likes Older Women: He definitely could not keep his eyes off Dante's hot mom, Violet. Mai isn't that much older he is, but it still counts.
  • Love Triangle: Keegan, Kasiya, Mike, though he has essentially given up.
  • Made of Iron: Black eyes, bruises, broken ribs, lacerations and bloody knuckles are all part of a pretty, pretty package.
  • Meaningful Name: Keegan means "small flame".
  • Mind Rape: Mai had one of her goons paralyze him with a Vileplume's Stun Spore, and then a psychic sat by his bedside, tormenting him with nightmares and false visions.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: Generally prefers lust and wrath. Sometimes together.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: He often does this very well, though anyone paying enough attention to him quickly realizes that this is nothing more than a facade.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Pretty much sums up his entire romantic relationship with Kasiya.
  • Opposites Attract: He and Kasiya.
  • Redheaded Hero
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Keegan is the red to Jaeshan's blue.
  • Romantic Runner-Up: First with Flannery, then later with Kasiya. Both times, he was the runner-up to Mike.
  • Ship Tease: with Sasha and Riza, and even Dante at some point, even though that might be wishful thinking on some of the players' parts.
  • Sir Swearsalot
  • Smoking Is Cool
  • Talk to the Fist
  • The Masochism Tango - with Mai.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Not counting all the ones he got from his father growing up, Mai delivers one to Keegan after his beating at the hands of Leo, and then a second one after Giovanni's revelations force Mike to snap and Kasiya to protect him from an attack from an enraged Serenity. Mike(really Milo) even gets a good one in there too not much later, right before indroducing Keegan's face to the ground. Rough day.

"Now just look at you, such a sorry sight. What happened, Red? I thought you were the so-called "tough guy" of the group," she laughed, using her fingers to put "tough guy" in air quotes. "You did put forth a valiant effort, might I add, but you'll never be the hero. Not like the others. Come on, Red, even your girlfriend is tougher than you. Why don't you just give up already? If you had any guts at all, you'd be over there with your "friends", helping them battle Giovanni. You're pathetic." -Mai

"You see, Red?" she called out, locking her icy blue eyes with his emerald ones, "do you see how she stands up for him, protects him, and loves him, even when he's clearly in the wrong? Talk about standing by your man. To think that all this time, you've been the rebound man, the second-choice. The lesser option. Runner-up. Tsk. It's such a shame, the way she's played you, taken you for a fool. Tell me, Red. Has she ever told you loved you?" - Mai again.

"The way you talk, it's like you have women lining up out the door to date you!" Mike said with a taunting cackle. "Pretty mighty talk for someone who spent the majority of his life defining the word 'unlikable prick'." - Milo

  • Trying to Catch Me Fighting Dirty: Not above busting your kneecaps or taking cheap shots to gain the upper hand in a fist fight, though he fights pretty fairly in Pokemon battles.
  • Unknown Rival: Shiro Crenu. Crenu spends an (unhealthy) amount of time hating on Keegan, while in reality, Keegan doesn't even remember who Crenu is.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Type 2, with Jaeshan. Their friendship is more of a rivalry and is stated as such at times, but they hold a mutual respect for one another.
  • Whatever: Could also be considered a catch phrase on a good day.
  • Would Hit a Girl

  • Half-Human Hybrid: Human/Celebi mixture, but much more human, as she has no visible similarities to the Pokemon parts of her DNA.
  • Flawed Prototype: Due to her escape before the experiments were concluded and the destruction of the lab, the true extent of Mitsu's mutations are unknown.
  • Healing Hands: Mitsu's genetic alteration has left her with the ability to heal people through a type of energy transferal. By placing her hands on someone, she sacrifices some of her own life force to heal them. Problem is, is that she doesn't necessarily know how to control is fully, and if she heals too much, it can seriously harm her.
  • Lego Genetics: Was captured by Team Rocket as a child and made part of a series of genetic experiments of fusing different Pokemon DNA with humans. Hers was Celebi, which granted Mitsu her powers.
  • Mysterious Past: Mitsu is very tight-lipped about her past, and has yet to fully (or even partially) reveal any measure of it to the other characters.
  • Phlebotinum Rebel: One day, in the middle of an experiment, Mitsu escaped, causing the Rocket lab to explode in the process. It set off a chain reaction that set fire to the nearby forest. While she feels no remorse for the potential scientist deaths, Mitsu feels very guilty about the Pokemon she has harmed in her escape process.
  • Shout-Out: Her last name.
  • Shrinking Violet: Mitsu has always been a very shy girl, but the Slateport Incident, which affected just about everyone, has caused a bit of a change in Mitsu, and she is starting to become more certain of her own abilities as a trainer and a person.
  • The Medic: By default, but not many know of her powers and she is not comfortable enough to frequently use them.

  • Bad Dreams: Crenu is plagued with dreams of his past, only the bad ones of his father circling the drain in a hospital. Never letting himself dream for too long, he doesn't sleep often either.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: Crenu is convinced everyone is out to get him, or connected in some way agaisnt him. Every person he meets seems to know every other person he meets, and even strangers are connected to them somehow, all wanting him to fail and to fall. He's very paranoid.
  • The Stoic: Crenu has the poker face of a champion, never letting any hint of trouble joy etc. shine through. Along with his stoicness, he always takes the logical route, cold as it may seem, and doesn't appear bothered by the moral implications of his actiuons, he simply doesn't seem to care. It's rare, but only Riza can make him start to crack a smile, his poker face only breaks when he's with her or when he's having a paranoid meltdown.
  • The Snark Knight - Crenu doesn't like people. Children, the elderly, medical staff, holy men, orphans, it doesn't matter. If it'a a human being he dislikes them, and that includes himself. Everyone is below him, is worthless...maybe the only exception is Riza.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Crenu is smart, very smart. After his fathers death he spend most of his childhood reading books, one after another to pass the time. He is analytical, logical, and isolated. He prefers to be alone, mostly from the lack of stimulation offered by the general public, it's hard being aroudn ignorance. There are few people he tolerates now, his isolation isn't as severe now that he is older, but he still feels alone.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Amusingly, despite Crenu's hardened exterior, he finds enjoyment(?) in Pokemon contests. This may just be him trying to get close to Riza, however.
  • Ship Tease: With Riza, although by now it's pretty much graduated to the big leagues.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Crenu will pop a cigarette in and smoke it to the very end, usually followed by another. He seems to do it at random, through stressful situations are almsot always followed by a smoke, and he doesn't care what peopel think about it. He knows it's not good for him, he doesn't care, leave him alone.
  • Unknown Rival: Crenu hates most people, but especially Keegan. Having taken Riza from him for one night, he detests the red haired menace, anddoesn't even know his name. He wants to surpass him, to be better than him, to absolutely crush him, but in reality Keegan doesn't even know who Crenu is. His rivalry with Keegan stems not only from his interest in Riza, but also from the fact that Keegan is an accomplished and strong trainer automatically making him a target for Crenu, but the interest in Riza makes him all the more threatening.
