Imports from TV Tropes

I could try to import some pages I made on TV Tropes here

I could only give you the links through but you and others here are free to use them. I know they have a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License, but you got my permission since I know what pages I created there and ones which I didn't.

Sorry, you can't import that under any circumstance.

Once released under CC BY NC SA 3.0, you cannot rerelease it under different conditions. Add onto that that TVT policy is that you surrender any rerelease rights once you post it, and that makes it even worse.

Legally, we have no idea if their license change or any of their new content release policy effective end of June 2012 onwards was/is legal, but we absolutely refuse to take chances since it would require visiting a courtroom to decide, so I'm afraid we can't allow that.

Those articles can be recreated from scratch here, but any deliberate plagiarism of content under a different license (even that which you originally wrote) is not acceptable.

I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's ATT policy that we refuse to violate copyright law, even if we're not sure if it is legally considered such given how TVT changed their license and content policy.

Basically, we're not taking chances.

didn't noticed that... since i have checked what a CC license was for. I got called out for my edits there recently they treated like scum despite understand how i write.

Uh... that's technically not true, GethN7. If you wrote a page in its entirety, then you are the sole owner of the content, and you can put it over here on this wiki. In fact, you can release it under any license you want. See ATT:Copyrights for details. Any portions you wrote can likewise be ported over here.

TVT does claim ownership over any content you write, but I am convinced that because this policy is a not actually made known to users, it constitutes an invalid contract. And I'd be more than willing to fight a lawsuit on that.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

I'll defer to Vorticity on this one. I'm just really cautious by nature, but he's more aware of the law than myself, so his advice on this is better than my own.

Topazan (talkcontribs)

...why is this posted on my user space?

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

Apparently, Beta Log 86 was addressing you from the looks of things, we we're just responding to him, sorry about that.

Topazan (talkcontribs)

It's fine, I'm just wondering why. If it's a response to the forum post I made about importing a trope, it would make more sense to put it there.

Whether or not importing newer tropes is acceptable, I wouldn't be the one to do the importing, since I was google-bounced from tvtropes. (Granted, I could make another account on another ip, but I don't want to.)

i had ask before hand to make sure no rules are being broken despite the pages I know what I sent there and not.
