Don't edit in 'All The Tropes:' namespace, first warning

Summary by Arlo James Barnes

Was blocked for two weeks, block expired, I returned and edited away from any administrative namespace (aside from one slipup six months later, which resulted in my final warning).

First, putting a statement of pre-emptive censorship on the Debbie Does Dallas/Source page is neither your right nor appreciated. If it happens that someone does populate that page, we the mods will deal with it appropriately. You don't get to sweep in and express your personal disapproval of the very idea as though it were a wiki policy. See the "Absolute Rules" section of our Content Guidelines page -- we've already got this covered, we don't really need your personal stamp of disapproval just to prove that we really mean it.

Second, while we're on the topic, you're not an admin, you don't get to change policy pages in the All The Tropes project namespace. We generally regard such edits as vandalism. Because of you, I'm now going to go through every policy page and make sure they're all protected from random vandalism and well-intentioned but unauthorized changes.

Third, your edits were clumsy and sloppy, with bare URLs and "examples" that were nothing more than links to categories here or on other wikis. Please consult our Style Guide and various page "how-to" guides (All The Tropes:Trope Workshop Guidelines, All The Tropes:Works Page Guidelines, All The Tropes:Creator Page Guidelines, All The Tropes:Uploading and Adding an Image to a Page) to get a better idea of what we expect from edits and editors. We are neither TVT nor are we Wikipedia, and we do things differently (sometimes very differently) from both.

Fourth, we do not link to TV Tropes. We don't care if they have an Interwiki prefix. The only TVT links that are permitted are a few left over from before the Fork which go to works hosted in the TVT forums or the rare other example. Some of the staff at TVT still go into frothing apoplexy at the very thought of our existence, and we don't want to stress the poor simple dears any more than they already are.

Finally, I have given you a two-week timeout from editing the wiki to read these and other help and documentation pages. You would probably have not received any ban at all if your very first edit hadn't been to a wiki policy page. Please see our page All The Tropes:How We Do Bans Around Here for the guidelines which led to this.
