Hi @Looney Toons, thanks for cleaning up this page. Should I mention it's a Web Original series? I already mentioned that it is part of Dimension 20 and I don't want to go overboard on links.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Yes, you should, and should provide a link to the work. You should also include Web Original as a category.

A work pages should not require you to go to another work page in order to learn where to find it. It should be as self-contained as possible.

Let me just say this: Too much information is never a problem. Too little always is.

SirMoogle (talkcontribs)

Thanks for the clarification. I've gone ahead and added those.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

You still left out the most important part -- a link to the work. Without this, the page is in danger of another admin coming along and marking it for deletion.

SirMoogle (talkcontribs)

You're going to have to clarify what you mean by "a link to the work". I've already mentioned it is under Dimension 20 which is already linked. If you're referring to an actual external link, it's behind a paywall, so should I mention that?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

A link to the work is a link to the work. Does it have its own page? Link to that. We do not say "see work X for a link to this work". How hard is that to understand?

If a work page for a web original does not instruct a reader how to find the work, the page is at risk of being deleted.

SirMoogle (talkcontribs)

Just give me a yes or no to this statement: Linking externally to something behind a paywall is okay.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

That's fine. although you may want to note that it is behind a paywall.

SirMoogle (talkcontribs)

Thank you. In the future I suggest linking to the relevant policies so that new editors understand what should be on a Work or Trope page.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Some things we think are obvious. Apparently not.

As a point of reference: Works Page Guidelines. The specific "policy" is the eighth main point under "New Work Checklist". Since you requested a link to this page, I recommend now that you adhere to its "policies" closely when making further contributions to The Unsleeping City -- or any other works page you edit or create in the future.
