Here is where I got the no © policy into my head: https://allthetropes.org/wiki/All_The_Tropes:How_to_Pick_A_Good_Image#Copyright_and_Fair_Use

Thanks. That's a carryover from TVTropes, and I'm not completely sure it applies here. I'll bring this up on the moderators' forum (offsite) - I could be wrong about our rules, after all.
I would also be interested in bringing back the image 'exorcism reversal' as a trope image if that is alright. ( Exorcism reversal is http://www.twogag.com/archives/1241 except the middle panel is missing and making the remaining images be top to bottom instead of left to right). I still have the edited version on my computer.
It's restored... and I added the licensing information to the page for you.
If it's still an unused file the next time I look at files with names starting with E, it'll be deleted as an unused file - so you have a day or two in order to use it somewhere.
Let's wait until I hear back from the other mods, please.
I was thinking the "all rights reserved" in the image I linked too bit might be relevant and was hoping you could bring it up at the same time.
I've heard back from other mods. To quote Labster:
TVT was assuming "we didn't know it was copyrighted" was an excuse (it isn't). |
We're dropping that clause from our guidelines and replacing it with something that actually conforms to copyright law.
File:Wingman waiter.png has the all 3 of the panels as the comic page it came from. Is that a breach of "use limited excerpts"?
Good question... I believe that a single strip from an ongoing web comic is an excerpt from the work rather than an entire work, so I'd make a layman's guess and say it's okay. @Looney Toons, you know copyright law at least as well as I do - what do you think?
I'm no expert, honestly, just well-enough informed to know my own rights as a creator. But I think your argument is valid. The individual strip is certainly copyrighted, but I think "quoting" it in its entirety is safe.
