So it seems the original trope name "Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse" has a bit of history on ATT. I'd like to call a vote on a new name. If people want to suggest alternate names, also all for that.

I'd like to do Cool Motive, Still Murder from Brooklyn Nine Nine (reference here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oyg7T9emCUA). Note that the person doesn't have to have committed murder.

Some other potential alternates:

Trauma Does Not Excuse My Actions

This Is Your Backstory Nonsense (From Phineas and Ferb's episode "This Is Your Backstory")

What The Hell, Trauma Victim?

I have a compromise on the original name to make it more general: Cool Motive, Still A Crime.

Love the original suggestion, but that should cover all the bases.

Lequinni (talkcontribs)

Going with Geth's proposal "Cool Motive, Still A Crime", because it's more general and we can still quote the B99 original line as the trope namer.

GentlemensDame883 (talkcontribs)

I'm agreeable on Geth's proposal.

Name sounds fair to me (side note, if we're going to make a work page for B99, I believe the Nine-Nine part is hyphenated, and that's how I've set up red links previously)

I see no problem with the old name, and my personal bias says no to any reference to Brooklyn 99 ever on this wiki.

Rob, if you want to create a page for (trash) television, you can. I will not suggest it for deletion, I will not maliciously edit the page, I will not even touch it. For two whole days in February, in fact, I almost decided to create a page but untimely went against it because it is a NBC product and I must like draw a line somewhere if all of american television is so bad. But I will manifest my opposition to quotes of said thrash television end up turning into trope names, specially when the name now completely serviceable.

You know, forget Brooklyn 99. Why you want a change? It's just so nonsensical to me. If you wanted to quote Euphoria I would still oppose it.

Jlaw (talkcontribs)

Oh? How come, out of curiosity?

Jlaw (talkcontribs)

Does "Cool Motive, Still A Crime" sound better than "Cool Motive, Still Crime?" I wonder if the latter sounds more lyrical.

GentlemensDame883 (talkcontribs)

I think I prefer the former so that there's the same number of syllables on both sides of the comma.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

I agree with the name change.
