Yo! Names CASCHero, a cast out from TVTropes. I was there for seven years till they booted me out over a dumb grammar tally they had on me up till March and "not cooperating" when they weren't clear what I had to do to clear it. To say the least, I've pretty much experienced BrokenPedestal with that site and the mods, particularity Syncocity, GastonRabbit and Fighteer can kiss my ass.

But I digress, I still enjoyed putting up tropes and glad to find an less strict alternative to keep doing. Hope to get along with you all here.

Welcome! We're always happy to give exiles from TVT a new home. Allow me to point you at a few pages that will help you jump right in and start editing:

That's a good place to start, I think. Oh, and it's a good idea to go to that menu along the left edge of every wiki page and open up "Troper Tools" and "Troping Utilities". There are links there you're going to want access to -- specifically the ATT Page Creator and the Trope Workshop. Unless you're using the "create new" button to make a subpage for an existing page, use the ATT Page Creator to make any kind of non-trope page -- we have standardized templates that automate most of a page's markup for you, and the Page Creator will pre-populate pages with the correct template, leaving you just to add your content.

Oh, and so you can see the most important ways we are different from TVT, please read the Policy for Wiki Staff and -- most importantly -- How We Do Bans Around Here. This isn't a threat -- this is the wiki policy strictly controlling how and when user bans can be applied by an Admin. We want you to be aware that unlike TVT, we do not ban users on whims or because we're cranky -- and that you know what we do ban people for, and what it takes, so you can avoid future problems.

Finally, one bit of info. Because of a massive storm of spammers we had almost two years ago, All The Tropes has a moderation system in place. Until you demonstrate your bona fides, your edits will be held in a queue until a staff member can look them over and approve them -- so they won't appear as soon as you make them. However, in most cases new changes are approved within 24 hours, and sometimes much faster. Once you've demonstrated that you're a good wiki citizen -- it can take as short as a couple days or as long as a few months, depending on your edit patterns -- we will promote you to "automoderated", which means your edits will get applied to the wiki immediately.

If you have any questions or need any kind of help, feel free to contact any of the staff and we'll do our best to provide you with what you need. Just drop a message on the talk page for anyone CC'ed below my signature -- we're always happy to help a user.

Once again, welcome. And we look forward to what you have to contribute to the community.
