• Crowning Moment of Awesome: Grandpa Seth saving Joshua from a goblin by bitch-slapping it. This would normally be Narm, but considering what kind of movie this is...
• Crowning Moment of Funny: "You can't piss on hospitality! I won't allow it!!"
  • The corn scene.
  • OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!
• Freud Was Right (or Visual Innuendo):
  • Creedence seduces Brent with an ear of corn, and popcorn was flying everywhere, filling up the trailer. Oddly, the corn is used in a distinctly non-phallic way.
  • And let's not even get into the Freudian/Lacanian connotations of Joshua seeing the ghost of a male progenitor in the mirror.
• Fridge Logic:
  • 'Vegetarians'....who eat people.
  • Just what crops did Mr. Waits expect to grow in only thirty days?
• Genius Bonus: Probably unintentional, but there are quite a few echoes of Christina Rossetti's poem "Goblin Market" present, particularly in how the goblins try to corrupt people by feeding them plant matter, and how homoerotic expressions of family values are the solution to defeating them. In both works, the goblins seem to represent an outsider threat to the status quo.
• Hollywood Homely: Creedence is probably supposed to be an ugly old woman. She's not.
• Memetic Mutation / Narm: Oh dear God, it's everywhere!

Arnold: They're eating her! And then they're going to eat me! OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDD! Michael: You can't piss on hospitality! I WON'T ALLOW IT! -- after Joshua urinates over the food on the dinner table. Joshua: They were trying to feed me ice cream so they could eat me later. Joshua: Nilbog! It's goblin spelled backwards!

• • A double example can be found during the sermon at the Church. It's funny enough hearing the Preacher hammily ranting about "smelly bladders", but look carefully at the General Store Owner when hemorrhoids are mentioned. He puts his hands between his legs and squeezes them together.
• Ho Yay: Drew sees Elliot and Brent sleeping in the same bed, with their shirts off.

Elliot (after Holly hits him in the groin): Are you trying to turn me into a homo? Holly: It wouldn't be too hard!

• • The film also seems to believe that "homosexuality" and "castration" are synonymous.
  • The entire plot thread regarding Drew's quest for milk (it would be milk, wouldn't it?) is laced with a disturbing, pseudo-rapacious homoerotica.
• Les Yay: Creedence tells the mom that she finds Holly to be "appetizing" and "provocative." Strangely, the mom doesn't really react to this.
• Nightmare Retardant: See, the notion of people turning into plants could have been A-Grade Body Horror. But the effects are pretty bad and the dialogue is even worse, so it's hard to care.
• Sequel Displacement: Yes there was a Troll before this film.
• Signature Line: "They're eating her! And then they're going to eat me! OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!" (Troll 2)
• Special Effects Failure
• Took the Bad Film Seriously: Everyone but Creedence, who clearly knows what kind of movie she is in, and is throughly enjoying herself.
• Unfortunate Implications: The Waits parents don't approve of Elliott's friends, but since we never see them do anything that bad and they don't even have any Informed Flaws it just comes off as looking like Elliott having friends at all is the problem.
