Trope Workshop talk:The Full Name Adventures

Rather than giving this a better description, should it become a category?

I think there's a difference. "Tropey the Wonder Dog" is Character Title, while "The Adventures of Tropey the Wonder Dog" is The Full Name Adventures.

EDIT: Although Character Title is also an index, so maybe the same question should be asked there.

While this is just a list of names, and yes, should probably just be turned into a category, I think there is possibly a trope/pattern present in SOME of these examples:

    Sarah Janes Adventures

    Sarah Connor Chronicles

    Tails Adventure

    The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard

    The Perils of Penelope Pitstop

These are all spin-offs from their original properties, focussing on side-stories away from the series' central narrative/numbered instalments, or entries in an expanded universe. I don't know if it's enough to make a separate entry for, or maybe just worth nothing on the page for Spin-Off or Gaiden Game?

I'm with Henery on not being clear what the difference is.

My vote would be make it a category, for the sake of simplicity.

    Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Likewise -- this is category territory. Although, as an admitted pattern in naming, it does come close to our generalized definition of a trope. Perhaps as an Omnipresent Trope...

    HLIAA14YOG (talkcontribs)

Though that is an example only for the japanese version, Persona 3 post-main game mode, which is only featured in the re-release Persona 3 FES, is called "Episode Aigis". Yeah, it's a pattern to name spin-offs who focuses on side characters with the character's name on the title. I guess a adequate definition of the trope, or even a better name for it, would be "Supporting Character Is The Title Spin-Off".

    GethN7 (talkcontribs)

The 14 year old girl has a point, but I'd shorten the name of their proposed trope to "Supporting Character Spinoff Title".

    Robkelk (talkcontribs)

Are we talking about renaming this trope to "Supporting Character Is The Title Spin-Off"/"Supporting Character Spinoff Title", or are we talking about making a new trope with one of those names?

I ask because at least six of the earliest spin-off character titles - Maude, The Jeffersons, Gloria, Rhoda, Phyllis, and Lou Grant - don't fit the naming convention given in the current trope, so a rename would re-define the trope.

    RivetVermin (talkcontribs)

I'd say we should make a different trope for that, and this should be turned into a category

    HLIAA14YOG (talkcontribs)

    I agree with @RivetVermin

    GentlemensDame883 (talkcontribs)

Spinoff idea probably should get a new trope methinks.

    Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Poking the discussion to try to revive it and settle on a solution.

    HLIAA14YOG (talkcontribs)

I repeat what I said, well almost everything. The full name adventures should be turned into a category. And the spin-offs named after supporting characters of the original story should be named "Supporting Character Spin-Off Title".

    Robkelk (talkcontribs)

I'm going to reserve my vote until we decide what to do with Character Title. Whatever we do there, I think we should also do here.

    GethN7 (talkcontribs)

I like Horny's suggestion but I'll side with Rob on belaying decisions until we get that other trope situation squared away.
