Turnabout Storm/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Spike's voice actress, who was Rainbow's VA at first.
  • Lying Creator: NeoArtimus either lies or gives misleading information as an effort to keep stuff like the character's roles under wraps for those not involved in the project. For example, while making the voice casting for Part 2, which included Edgeworth and Trixie, she said the former was going to prosecute and the latter was going to be a witness.
  • Mid-Development Genre Shift: This work evolved from a written fanfiction to an attempt at a game[1], then to a radio play[2] and finally to what it is now[3].
  • Name's the Same:
    • The victim Ace Swift is not the tennis player background pony nicknamed Ace.
    • Across the pony Fanon there's Nix, Phoenix's new nickname courtesy of Rainbow Dash, and Nyx, Nightmare Moon's reincarnation from Past Sins. First Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and now this; Nick has a knack for sharing names with overly powerful beings.
  • One of Us: NeoArtimus was very surprised after learning that her work had an article on Tv Tropes, and has claimed that she occasionally checks out the Wild Mass Guessing section, saying that she enjoys the fan speculation.
  • The Other Darrin: Due to the original voice actress being busy dealing with other matters, Rainbow Dash was played by a different person in episode 2. This new actress will stay as the voice for Rainbow Dash for the rest of the series' run, with the original actress changing roles to Spike.
  • Talking to Himself: One of the guards Phoenix speaks with is voiced by the same guy that voices Nick.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Ace Swift was originally going to be named Red Herring, a good fit for an Ace Attorney style Meaningful Name. It was later changed to fit the style of Friendship is Magic's names[4].
    • Part 3 - Phoenix was going to have a song, but it was cut due to time constraints.
    • Part 3 - Phoenix and Part 3 - Twilight were scheduled to be released one just after the other, as both of them had plot holes that the other explained, but due to some problems at getting the resourses for the latter, there's going to be a few weeks gap between them. Also, the original plan was to release Part 3 - Twilight first.
    • The creator was considering making a sequel called Crisis Of Turnabout after finishing with Turnabout Storm. Apparently, Princess Luna was going to be a big part of it, but her new and fleshed out characterization in the episode "Luna Eclipsed" made the author scrap the idea.
      • Honestly, if she hadn't been involved before, the new Luna would fit right into the Ace Attorney universe.
      • NeoArtimus has shown interest in considering making a sequel after the very positive reception this one had.

Phoenix Wright: Princess Luna?
Twilight Sparkle: Yeah, she's Celestia's sister. She doesn't show her face a lot though.
Phoenix Wright: Why's that?
Twilight Sparkle: There was a little problem involving her not too long ago.
Phoenix Wright: What kind of problem? Did she try to reduce your candy supplies or something?
Twilight Sparkle: Actually, she wanted to bring eternal night towards Equestria.
Phoenix Wright: E-eternal night!? (Now evil princesses? What's the deal with this place!?)

  1. In order to be able to put music in it
  2. The game didn't work out
  3. So visual elements could be added
  4. It was adapted from Ace Baron, the name of a character in a previous Ace Attorney fanfic of the author
