Twilight Dragon is a tale of acceptance in a time of fear and distrust, and triumph in the face of adversary. When an ancient box was opened, a chain of events was set in motion that would lead to the deterioration of humanity itself.

Long ago, before mankind concerned itself with time, a box that contained unimaginable evil was opened. One by one, the dark creatures of hate crept out and unleashed their malice on mankind in the forms of sin, hate, disease, hunger and pain. But that wasn’t enough. After hundreds of centuries passed, the darkness coalesced into one malevolent being…

The Twilight Dragon.

But hope was not lost, for indeed it had escaped from the box along with the evil. It was foretold that one day there would be a select group of people who would be able to slay the Twilight Dragon once and for all.

The only question is...is the Twilight Dragon even real?

Tropes used in Twilight Dragon include:

Aerith and Bob: Interesting names like Kether, Kayari, Keaira, Gaignun and even Beldabezabubbabaloo XXVII to contrast with comparatively simpler names like Chris and Monica.
Alien Sky: When they finally find the Twilight Dragon, they end up in soome bizarre place where the sky is colors it should not be. And the sky isn't the only unfamiliar thing there...
Author Appeal: The Author’s obsession with pink hair undoubtedly made it to one of the main characters, the AI girl, Momoko.
Author Avatar: Kayari is pretty much the author in fictional form. Keaira is, too, to a certain extent. Keaira's status as the author avatar is more prevalent in the second book, Phantom Revenant.
Backstory: Nearly every character gets one, and those that don't get them in the sequel, Phantom Revenant. Most are particularly depressing, though.
Be All My Sins Remembered: Kayari is particularly distressed over her actions in the past, which unfortunately led to her mother's suicide.
Because Destiny Says So: One of two reasons why Kayari Lastaya has to be the one to defeat the Twilight Dragon.
Beware the Nice Ones: You do not want to get Aina angry. You WILL be sorry.
Bizarre Baby Boom: After a while, it turns out that nearly every baby born on Earth was becoming infected with either the Crystallinevirus or the Capaciousvirus - two very bad Cursed with Awesome type diseases that permanently alter the molecular structure and brain density of the affected people.
Breaking the Fourth Wall: Kayari does this in chapter four. Apparently the novel is the accounts of her adventures.
Break the Cutie: Oh, so much...
Cannot Spit It Out: Trowa has issues admitting his feelings for Aina to her, even though everyone else seems to notice it.
Children Are Innocent: Fader Haters take it upon themselves to virutally slaughter anyone who shows signs of the Crystallinevirus. Too bad most of these victims are young children.
Closer to Earth: Aina, especially in comparisson to her potential love interest, Trowa.
Cursed with Awesome: People who have been infected with the Crystallinevirus can become see-through and partially intangeable. Unfortunately, the disease also leads to death, either by "losing yourself" or being hunted down and eventually murdered by Fader Haters. Psychics could also count. They possess incredible psychic power, but most end up killing their parents as infants or toddlers because they can not control their power that young.
Cute Shotaro Boy: Gaignun in the first book. In Phantom Revenant, he gets an upgrade to full-on Bishonen.
Dark and Troubled Past: Boy, are there ever
Dark Is Not Evil: The Hanekuro people have black wings. Most are quite friendly, however, despite the prejudice and persecution they constantly face from humans.
A Day in the Limelight: Princess Atoli, despite Kayari telling this story in first person, has an entire two chapters dedicated to her early on in the novel.
Deliberately Cute Child: Keaira's cute, and she knows it. Too bad that beneath the cute exterior and adorable mannerisms, she's a horrid little demon spawn (not literally, of course)
Disappeared Dad: The Lastaya siblings’ dad left them after the apparent death of his only son. The Adler siblings’ father was tortured to death.
Driven to Suicide: Kayari and Kether's mother. It was quite gruesome and could have very well been avoided...
Everyone Can See It: Everyone can see that Trowa is head over heels for Aina. He switches back and forth between admitting this and denying it.
Everything Fades: This would be how faders die if they aren't lucky enough to get killed before their time is up. And it is PAINFULL. The main reason why you would never, ever want to be a fader.
~Everything's Better With Princesses~: Princess Atoli La Ciel…she even wears pink!
Evil Laugh: Aina’s laugh when she snaps is not something to be taken lightly.
Evil Twin: Subverted. Kayari’s twin brother, Chris, was brainwashed, not really evil.
Friend to All Living Things: Aina McCrae fits this, due mostly to the fact that she is a therian. She also has control over fireflies. All therians actually fit this. She has been known to take this trope Up to Eleven.
Functional Magic: Princess Atoli is a sorceress in training who is on a pilgrimage to acquire new spells before she is interrupted by her true quest. The pearls of Atlantis also function as incredibly potent sources of magic.
Fun with Acronyms: DEPRESSION (Diminished Emotion Percentage Redirects Essential and Superfluous Sadness to the Open Network-System) and EMOTION (Emotions Magnified Outrageously To Ignite Obfuscating Nature), the computer viruses that AI can get.
Gut Feeling: Kayari gets these about her little sister. Unfortunately, it's usually something bad, and she's usually right.
Halfbreed: All of the Adler siblings are half human, half Hanekuro.
Harmful to Minors: This book has it covered.
Heroes Want Redheads: There was a little bit of role reversal going on here, as Kayari was the heroine and Tristan was the redhead.
Hidden Heart of Gold: Alright, so maybe Keaira isn't as bad as she makes herself out to be all the time.
An Ice Person: Atoli is specifically known as a Sorceress of Snow.
Japanese Honorifics: Neko-chan was manufactured in Japan, and therefore has a preference for using honorifics.
Last of His Kind: The Lastaya siblings are the last remaining descendants of the Atlanteans that lived on Earth. There were supposedly others, but no one knows what happened to them or where they disappeared to.
Loads and Loads of Characters: There are 13 main characters in Twilight Dragon, and that’s not including Kayari’s long-lost twin brother or the new characters in the sequels and prequel.
Meaningful Name: Some of them, anyway.
Missing Mom: Kayari, Chris and Kether’s mother committed suicide. Trowa, Tristan and Marin’s mom died in childbirth. Keaira's mom was accidentally murdered by Keaira when she was just a small child.
Mood Swinger: Momoko. Justified. She has a computer virus called EMOTION.
Mook Face Turn: Monica was a Bounty Hunter who was a slave to the government to hunt down and deport all Hanekuro...that was, until she found out that they, too, could become victims of the Crystallinevirus.
Mutants: Leilani was once a simple human, but with the help of some radioactive goo and a piece of dolphin flesh, she became a pseudo-mermaid.
Nightmare Fuel: The scene where Kayari’s mom searches for Kether and then subsequently commits suicide is disturbing, to say the least.
Occupiers Out of Our Country!: More like Occupiers Out Of Our Planet. Let's just say that Humans don't take too kindly to the Hanekuro, despite the fact that they really haven't done anything wrong.
Opposites Attract: At least, this is what Trowa is hoping. Unfortunately for him, he's something of an idiot, whereas Aina is most certainly not.
Our Dragons Are Different: For one, who even believes in Dragons in the 32nd century anyways? Of course it would really have to be a life sucking parasite that feeds on human sins. Not that it's any more believeable than an actual Dragon...
Our Mermaids Are Different: Leilani, as explained above, is a half-dolphin mutant who is frequently mistaken for a real mermaid.
Out-of-Character Moment: When Aina snaps, it's like she's a completely different person. It's a good thing that this doesn't happen too often, and when it does, it doesn't last that long.
Parental Abandonment: This is represented quite literally in the case of the Lastaya siblings’ father, who walked out on them after Chris' supposed death.
Personality Powers: Kayari is shy and nervous to a fault. Her power is to become partially invisible. Aina is calm and motherly. Her power is basically Friend to All Living Things taken Up to Eleven.
Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Momoko is shown breaking down huge metal doors, beating the living crap out of evil guards, and generally being a total Badass. Keaira also fits this, as she is one of the most powerful psychics ever born. She blows up a jeep with her mind in her first appearance.
Portal Pool: The characters use the Lake of Atlantis as a sort-of "hub" for portaling in and out of places they need to get to/escape from, as long as there is a large enough body of water nearby (though depth is unimportant).
Precognition: Most therians have minor powers of precognition due in part to the Capaciousvirus.
Psychic Link: It is very rare, and can only be found among psychics. The pairs are known as one another’s “Others” and have a strong mental bond. Though they cannot read one another’s minds, according to proximity, they can feel one another’s pain and emotions.
Psychic Powers: Due to a virus called the Capaciousvirus, portions of the brain become enlarged and enable infected humans to have control over enormous psychic powers. Different psychics have different powers, all dealing with the mind.
Robot Girl: Cute little AI Momoko turns out to be quite the formidable opponent in a fight.
Rule of Funny: Who honestly names their kid Beldabezabubbabaloo XXVII?
Saving the World: The whole purpose of the quest to find and defeat the Twilight Dragon is to save the world from its plague of terror.
Seven Deadly Sins: Kayari and the others start having recurring dreams asking them if they know their "Significant Sin." Everything goes to hell once Kayari figures hers out.
Speaks Fluent Animal: Aina. Though she can't literally speak to animals, she can "read" them and interperet what nature is telling her.
The Empath: Tristan and most full-blooded Hanekuro are Empaths. He uses this to his advantage to get Kayari to kiss him.
Tsundere: Keaira all the way, and not just towards her crush.
Unscaled Merfolk: Leilani is genetically half-dolphin due to a nuclear accident.
What Measure Is a Non-Human?: AI, faders, and psychics all fall into this category among "normal" people. They're just disgusting mutated things that go against nature, right? Right?
Winged Humanoid: The entire race of the Hanekuro, an alien species distinguishable by their blood red eyes, deep tanned skin, and black eagle-like wings, are winged humanoids. Many half-Hanekuro hybrids also sport the black wings of their alien heritage.
Witch Species: Atoli’s entire family is known as the most powerful line of snow sorcerers ever to walk the earth. Her spells only work within people of her bloodline.
