UFO/YMMV

Hilarious in Hindsight -- A vastly-expensive space-telescope project fails due to a minor fault in the camera; that would never happen in real life of course. And Straker's prejudice against a privately-operated moon-mining operation seems ironic given the push for privatisation in the real 1980's.
- References to the Skydiver's jet "Sky One" are odd now that it's the name of a TV channel.
Spiritual Licensee -- The 1994 video game UFO: Enemy Unknown, also known as X-COM: UFO Defense, which borrowed thematically from the series to a great extent.
Values Dissonance -- The excessive Fan Service, and the fact that men do all the actual fighting, makes UFO appear rather sexist now, though in fact the series consistently portrayed several women in positions of authority (Colonel Virginia Lake, and Lieutenants Gay Ellis and Nina Barry) as competent professionals. In this respect, UFO did much better than other sci-fi series of the time, including Star Trek, first broadcast only four years earlier.
- I wouldn't call a show sexist just because the women in it do not fight. Additionally most of them (e.g. Gay Ellis and Nina Barry) were seen or implied to have been in a variety of scuffles and definitely in general fighting situations. Quite a few of the female guest stars were fighting on way or the other.
