• Doing It for the Art: The team at Naughty Dog could be called insane for the amount of work they put into these games. From doing motion capture and dialogue recording at the same time to squeezing every last bit of power out of the Play Station 3's Cell Processor, the effort they go through to produce this amazing experience goes far, far beyond what is required to make these games a success. They don't just go the extra mile, they pave the road for everybody else.
• Dyeing for Your Art: Nolan North mentioned in a recent interview that during parts of the motion capture for Drake's Deception, he was suffering from broken ribs. While clearly not done intentionally, it meant the pain and anguish on Nate's face is actually real.
• Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • Odo tells Drake not to give up his quest for the Cintamani Stone.
  • Kain plays Roman in the first game... Considering Amy Hennig directed both series and René Auberjonois was also in Legacy of Kain, it's not hard to see why.
  • That and just about everyone in the cast was on a Soap Opera in the last 5 years.
  • In the Polish dub the main character is voiced by Jarosław Boberek, famous for dubbing Donald Duck here. What's funny and punny? Look at the main character's last name.
  • Chloe is voiced by Claudia Black, known for playing Aeryn in Farscape and Vala in Stargate SG-1.

Claudia Black: I saw the casting call and it said "character speaks with an undefined accent, maybe British, maybe Australian, maybe European", and I thought, "Well, I can't not get this part, I can do all three!"

• • Audrey Parker is Elena.
  • Commander Shepard became a multiplayer announcer.
• Jossed: This seems to have happened to David O. Russell's concept for the film (before he quit), in which Drake's family apparently played a large part. As of Drake's Deception, we now know that Nate was raised in an orphanage, and Sully's effectively been Nate's substitute father since he was a teenager.
• Shout-Out:
  • The games are obviously a tribute to the Indiana Jones series. Ironically, Harrison Ford is the official spokesperson for Uncharted 3 in Japan.
  • A small nod to Naughty Dog's previous series Jak and Daxter in the form of Nate and Elena's "Ottsel" (ie. Daxter's species) brand wetsuits at the beginning of the game.
  • Also, check out the back of the Gold (and Silver) Ingot treasures. There's a small paw print on them—Naughty Dog's logo.
  • Not to mention the Strange Relic treasure that can be found in the game; a Precursor Orb.
  • Plus Nate's leather shoulder-holster-harness-thing has NDI written on the back of it, as does Harry Flynn's stylish T-shirt in his introductory cutscene.
    • The grenades are also called "Mk-NDI." Naughty Dog Incorporated.
  • Don't forget the sequence in Among Thieves. Sully and Nate even use the name of the movie, for god's sake.
  • I HATE spikes! During a descending ceiling, no less!
  • At the end of the Borneo level, when Sully and Nate have to jump off a cliff to escape, Sully tells him: "After you, Butch." They both jump off the cliff into the water below, mirroring a famous scene from that movie. Nate even says, "Oh shiiiiiit!"
  • The chapter in which Nate and Tenzin find Schaeffer's expedition is called "Heart of Ice". Given that the expedition ended with the men going mad with power and having to be executed by Schaeffer, it's pretty clear that this is a reference to Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness.
  • The trailer for Drake's Deception shows Nate doing a Living Daylights. If you haven't seen that movie, that means Nate is is fighting bad guys while hanging hanging out the back of a cargo plane in mid-flight.
  • The trailer for Drake's Deception also shows Nate riding a horse through a tight canyon, looking very much like the end to The Last Crusade.
  • There's a medal in Drake's Deception's multiplayer called Drakes On A Plane.
  • In Deception, an upset Sully growls "What is this black ops bullshit?" after Team Drake realizes that Charlie Cutter has been hit with some manner of mind-control dart. In Call of Duty Black Ops, the big plot twist is that the main character, Alex Mason, has been brainwashed for most of the game.
  • Also in Deception, as Nate's briefing his team Cutter constantly interjects, explaining a James Bond reference and when T.E. Lawrence is brought up, responds with "Great film."
  • Possibly just straight Getting Crap Past the Radar, but the name of Rameses' ship is The Seaward.
  • Again, not necessarily intentional, but it's nice to think that Sully's "This is why we can't have nice things!" in Chapter 22 was a deliberate reference to Archer.
• What Could Have Been: Charlie Cutter was supposed to be in the entire game of Uncharted 3. His actor unfortunately had other commitments, and so was written out early.
  • Elena's actor Emily Rose didn't even intentionally audition for the part; she was accompanying a friend. She got the part because of her chemistry with Nolan North.
