Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Basic Trope: Children and Teenagers are treated as monsters, even if they're innocent. They faced a host of oppression; or they're constantly put in harms' way.

  • Straight: The society of Trope Town just don't trust youths regardless of intelligence and would remind them on who is has the last word.
    • There are far too many dangers for a youngster to face, so society is either trying to hard to protect or simply ignore them.
  • Exaggerated: Youths are put under strict control and are forced to do what they are told to do. They don't like it: TOO BAD. Punishments are harsher than for adults.
  • Downplayed: Oppression of the juvenile population is common but it’s nothing more than an annoyance rather than harsh since those who enforce the policy have standards on punishment. Some in enforcement do care about juveniles, but they either have to do their job or face discipline.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: The town is actually kid-friendly.
  • Subverted: The institution appears to be a dangerous place for juveniles until it’s found to be a training school that requires physical education.
  • Double Subverted: Despite the place appearing to be kid-friendly as it appears to be monitored but hiding a troubling secret from the public and adolescents who attend there only learns of this... the hard way.
  • Averted: Juveniles are treated no differently than adults.
  • Enforced: “To all juveniles out there, LIFE SUCKS… DEAL WITH IT”.
  • Defied: Jones doesn’t like what society says about the juvenile population he won't stand for the systemic abuse of them.
  • Deconstructed:
    • Naegle learns that enforcing abusive tactics though the legal system on the juvenile population was a bad idea, and youth rebellions have begun to form.
    • Naegle shows the plans on breaking the will of the juvenile population, both physically and mentally, only to discover one thing: the majority of the adults at the meetings are protective of their children. The concept just happened to extend to other children from other families.
    • The Laws Naegle is promoting being beleaguered by the criminal underworld that felt society was becoming too brutal to children, even by their standards.
