Junko Furuta (古田 順子 Furuta Junko?) was a Japanese high school student born in Misato, Saitama, Japan on January 18th, 1971. She met an untimely end in 1989 when she was abducted, raped, and tortured for 40 days, before finally being murdered two weeks before her 18th birthday. Her body was then discovered in a concrete drum. The abusers were four teenage boys, Hiroshi Miyano, Jō Ogura, Shinji Minato, and Yasushi Watanabe - the act was carried out over a period of 40 days from November 1988 to January 1989, and the crime was believe to be the "worst case of juvenile delinquency" ever to occur in Japan's post-World War II history.
