An hour ago I was happy to see someone volunteering to help with cleanup.

Unfortunately, I've just spent that hour cleaning up after you. And I have come to the conclusion that I need to give you a tempban for a day just to stop you long enough to discuss this with you.

First, we don't want or need those "References" headers. And unilaterally deciding to add them is a way to get permabanned -- for trying to change part of the wiki design and style without asking first.

Second, Laconic pages are supposed to be short. That's what "laconic" means. They do not get "stub" templates.

Third, you are not an admin -- you do not have the right to threaten other users with bans for their edits. Especially when their only edits are two removals of misapplied categories, which is not vandalism by any measure.

That alone right there -- I am sorely tempted to permaban you just for that. But I will not. I will give you a chance to prove that you are not a particularly clever vandal yourself. But you have done more in 20 hours to prejudice me against you than any of our other "problem children" have done in six months. When you come off your ban, rest assured I will be watching every character you type.

Please respond to this message and acknowledge that you understand,

I also see that you deleted a complete section on the page Minimonsters/Heartwarming, without leaving an explanation in the Edit Summary box.

While I'll grant that the outright removal of text makes it no longer grammatically incorrect, it's not the kind of action that benefits the wiki as a whole. If we wanted to make text grammatically correct by deleting it, we would have saved everybody a great deal of trouble and simply blanked every page on the wiki.

We do not need edits of that sort. If you see a need to delete substantial sections of a page, explain why in the Edit Summary.

I support the tempban that @Looney Toons imposed.

I also ask that you read All The Tropes:Style Guide.

I agree and I added the stophand!

2hadow, stop putting == References == on every page you edit. If we'd wanted them there, rest assured we would have had a bot insert them at some point over the past five years.

Welcome, and thank you

Rob Kelk pointed me at you, and mentioned you wanted to help cleaning up behind some of our less... grammatically adept users. You are very welcome to do so. The one fellow Rob hinted about is a user by the name of "Jason taylor" (with a lowercase t, yes), who is a prolific contributor to certain tropes with military themes, but is less than concerned with matters of markup and grammar -- more of the former than the latter, but he is prone to punctuation errors and "it's/its" and "then/than" confusions among other things. If you want to keep an eye out for his contributions, he has yet to create a user page, so his name is in red on the Recent Changes and history pages -- it pops out at you.

Of course feel free to fix anything else you spot, either with him or anyone else. Sometimes it's easiest to just use the Random Page link in the menu to the left and clean up whatever page it gives you.

As for outright vandalism, we have surprisingly little -- the moron who followed in your wake was the first real instance in months. We get far more spammers, and even then, one only appears every few weeks. But again, feel free to revert anything that looks like it needs it, and if you spot a spammer before anyone else does let one of us admins know so we can take further steps against them.

Anyway, welcome again and thanks for volunteering to help improve our overall quality.
