Rather than derail the discussion about anonymous access, I thought I'd drop a note here: "ParityBlast" is still an active account despite not being used in four and a half years. Where did you get the idea it was long gone? We don't don't do any kind of "sweeping" of inactive accounts.

It's not an uncommon practice on some forums, though not necessarily on wikis.

Oh, I know. There are a couple forums where I make token appearances -- or simply invoke non-posting forum functions -- every couple months to ensure my memberships there are maintained. I'm just curious how he came to the conclusion that the account had been deleted or removed.

Is it? I'd distinctly recalled attempting to log in a few years back and failing repeatedly -- and I'm the type that still keeps a written notepad to keep track of passwords, so I was fairly certain I didn't make any mistakes. Seeing as I hadn't been particularly active on that account, I'd simply made the assumption and hardly paid much mind to it further -- I could simply edit anonymously anyhow and that suited me better. It probably didn't help that I had an incident that made me change computers, so no saved log-ins to help me.

If that's indeed the case and I goofed, sorry for the mix-up. I'd edit that bit in my argument, but well..."You don't have the rights to perform this action".

Nah, it's okay. I was just confused because, like I said, we don't do that kind of thing. I think we can force a password reset if you'd like to keep using it. (I'm not usually the "user account guy", so I'd have to go looking for where it can or could be done.)

Maybe when a decision is reached on all this, I'll take you up on that. Thanks for the offer.

You're welcome.
