Vampire Cheerleaders/Nightmare Fuel
- Subverted later on (due to hasty Retconning), but the initial scene where Heather got vamped.[1] The blow is softened by her accepting what happened and even being thrilled by it, which is still scary in it's own way, given how it corrupts her character.
- The fact that the first major job the Paranormal Mystery Squad went on was just a setup so Katie could be raped a werewolf, thankfully averted for the most part.
- Bianca Harrow is a major Knight of Cerebus in a story that had been, for the most point, more comedic than terrifying. In the past, she seduced a Roman senator/vampire so she could paralyze him, kill him, then eat him. In present day, she does the same thing to Lori, and paralyzes her, rapes her, then plans to not only burn her to death via using the sun to "cook" her, but also plans to feast on he remains. What Lori does to her after managing to turn the tables is also pretty gruesomely detailed.
- Her sister Cressida is also a font of horrifying cruelty. she tortures Suki, repeatedly abuses Suki's vampiric regeneration to remove her liver repeatedly and eat it, with Suki still conscious
- Volume 4 brings us Suki's apparent final death, which, while averted, was incredibly gory, with her body blown apart in two bloody, rent pieces. The fact she manages to survive this would soften the blow, if it wasn't for the fact she regenerated her strength by nearly killing Victorian Era Lorna Thurston in a blood rage, which wound up being why Lorna later was able to turn the rest of the main VC cast into vampires as well.
