A Web Original created by James Bovill.
Currently[when?] running through Volume I, Secret; so far the only file posted is a ~14,000-word introduction.
The current setting year is 2998 (despite which the series is remarkably Twenty Minutes Into the Future). The setting itself is the Commonwealth and Territories of Kostemetsia, which is basically The British Empire In Space and tends to do a lot of hunting down its own personnel, most of whom are the protagonists and their minions / bosses.
The current protagonists are:
- Ryana Taylor, pretty much universally known as Wildcat. Redheaded heroine secret-police lieutenant. Starts out as an amoral, unethical and emotionless character - which you pretty much have to be to work in Deepblack, the Kostemetsian secret police. Character projected to get some development over the course of the series.
- Martin Hughes. Sensitive new-age guy, recently laid off from the resident megacorp. Plays the starry-eyed idealist to Wildcat's I Do What I Have To Do mindset.
At one time it could be read here [dead link], but it no longer exists anywhere on the web.
