Laying on the smooth moves!
"You know... he's that guy that does anime. That one that likes boobs."

Lost Pause is "a channel about playing video games and Noble being a big dummy." He typically plays anime games, including visual novels and JRPGs, with wacky humor and a load of tongue-in-cheek perversion. Noble also does Q&As (#AskNobleSenpai) and reactions to anime-related videos.[1] Since May 2016, his Let's Plays have gradually shifted out in favor of more general videos and reactions[2] ever since his channel was taken down and then reinstated on March 2016,[3] but the occasional one still pops up. He often streams on Twitch.

Noble's channel is getting more and more popular, having gained more than 1 200 000 subscribers as of August 2018.[4] Noble and his foxgirl mascot Lily the Mechanic are portrayed in the official webcomic Fox Girls Are Better, drawn by Curryless and written by Merryweather.

Lost Pause provides examples of the following tropes:

A-E

  • All for Nothing:
    • Noble remarks with this when his trip with the Perverted Professor to get Panmon goes nowhere in PokePanties.
      • In "SAVE YOUR YOUTUBERS FROM YOUTUBE", from February 29th, 2016, Noble says that he is having stress over the possibility of his channel, 2 years of hard work, getting taken down in an instant.

"How do people even "YouTube" anymore? How do they even get started on this platform, when you're scaring your creators away?!"

Aoi: (to Karin) Tea rice and pickled vegetables sound ok?
Noble: Oh? Okay, that sounds fine, I guess.
Karin: (tired) Yeah...
Noble: (to the camera) ..I never had any of those, so I don't know!

Noble: Once again guys, thank you so much for watching this video here. Leave a like for me if, you know, you like me... I'm on YouTube! I beg for attention! (giggles)

  • Author Appeal: Nekos, foxgirls, cool battles, sexy harems... Noble loves many things about anime.

"It's not a Lost Pause video without Nekos."

  • Noble just loves being called 'baka' by tsunderes.
  • He also loves it when girls "bop" or "bounce" in visual novels.
  • Flat or big, Noble loves all boobs.

Noble: Oh good! You're so very good at lying! Very good cover.
[...]
Noble: Don't put me on the spot, girl. Chocola, you sold me out!

  • Coconut unwittingly joins in, at Vanilla's insistence, and Noble sees right through her.

Koji: (Thinking) I'll make sure that she has as much fun as she can tonight.
Noble: Aww, yeah! We're gonna have plenty of fun! You know, like wrapping presents, maybe making cookies?

(Caption: It's only mild rape)

Game: Yes, Rin is naked.
Noble: (laughs) I'm glad we clarified that! Thank you, game.
Game: I spect-
Noble: (To the camera) Did any of you not notice?!
(Caption: Raise hands now)
(beat)
Noble: Okay, that's what I thought!

    • "Got chips?"
    • "I'm bad!"

    • Noble exclaiming "Imagination!" whenever a scene with many people is described, with only an empty background image shown.
    • "Nice and Awkward!", whenever two characters are too embarrassed to talk.
    • "Dot Dot Dot..." when reading ellipses (usually with the Rule of Three).
    • "No shit!"
    • "Laying on the smooth moves!" (and variations)
    • "Motivational Noble!" when going into a tongue-in-cheek motivational speech.
    • "You cockslap", when doing his Sean Connery impression.
    • "These girls are so thirsty!"
    • "I can read, guys!", when he struggles to read a sentence.
    • "Very Nice!" (and variations) when presented with the goods.
    • "BOOSTO!"
    • "And I hope to see you beautiful sons of guns again... next time."
      • "Stay Awesome!", his former closing catch phrase.
  • Character Celebrity Endorsement: Discussed in an Ask Noble Senpai about Kizuna AI, where Noble expressed moral questions about the virtual YouTuber's sponsored videos and mentioned commercials from Ford with Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon characters that were blatantly unrelated to their universe.
  • Continuity Nod: When Chocola kisses Kashou in Nekopara Vol. 2 Ep 11, Noble goes silent, then:

Noble: Alright, I'm getting some Princess Evangile flashbacks here. (laughs)

Noble: "[Santa is] so innocent and pure," (evil shadows) so easy to corrupt.

Oh hey, chief! What do these wires do- Oops! Looks like your stream is down. My bad! Te-heh!

  • Lampshaded as Moe whenever Noble sees a girl in a game like that.

"Welcome back to Nekopara, where last time... we cleaned our nekos' ears out. Very, very sexually."

Kashou: Oh, and by the way, I've had something I've wanted to ask for a while now.
Coconut: (with her mouth full) Huh? What is it?
Noble: Yeah, what cup size you rock- (chortles) No, no! God, that joke is so old!
(Caption: OLD REFERENCES!)

Coconut: This... This is delicious! Your cooking is absolutely superb, Kashou-sama!!
Noble: Glad you like it, girl! (laughs) That's not the only thing that Noble's got cooking. ..Um... I don't know where I was going with that. (laughs)

Noble: Hey Aki. Where are your parents?
Aki: They found a new house.
Noble: Ooookay...

F-K

"Nobody's truly, like, super-unique as a YouTuber. Everything's been done before! (laughs)"

  • Noble says there was nobody playing visual novels on YouTube when he started, but cites PewDiePie, Game Grumps and Yogscast as influences. He also says he tries to get his humor "from various different sources" and from his own "weird" mind.
  • Grandfather Paradox: Invoked in Time Tenshi Ep 18. Noble mentions a hypothetical situation as an argument against Chrontek's time travel experimentations: making it so that the time machine never happened.

Noble: Wait a minute. If you change time to make the time machine that never happened that changed time, what the fuck would happen?!

Rugmunch: You can't just study all the time though.
Noble: You can't just play MMOs all the time, too. (looks left and right, laughs)

???: Arrgh...my aim's off for some reason!
Noble: What are you, a Stormtrooper?

  • (Her boobs got in the way of her arms.)

L-P

Noble: You got a bunch of cute [school-girl] waifus in the background, yeah you get a good look at them all? ...Good, because none of them are waifu-able. (laughs)
(Caption: THEY'RE NOT IN THE GAME!)
Noble: They're completely different!

(footage from Attack on Titan)
"don't worry... MIKASA ES SU CASA"
Noble: (looks up) Nnoooo! You did not make that joke.

  • In a Lost Pause 2 Ask Noble Senpai:

Noble: Hey, what do you call a YouTuber who doesn't lie? No-Bull! Heh heh heh heh-okay please don't leave.
(Caption: SORRY)

Q: (Relating to Kaniki Ken from Tokyo Ghoul) You Ken run but you can't Hi-
Noble: Did you- ....... You fucking son of a bitch. (laughs)

Noble: What's cracking, guys? Here we are [with the] 'Miku Dateu Simu Waifu Game Dress-up Doll Simulator Everything I Dunno Inappropriate!' That's what this frickin game is!

'can u talk like arnoldshortni-' Oh God, that is so close to being really bad. (laughs)

  • Off-Model: Noble pointed out some pretty bizzare examples in Time Tenshi and Burokku Girls.
    • From Burokku Girls Ep. 5:

Noble: (seeing the blonde warrior's weirdly different face) Why is the art- Look at that face! The face is so inconsistent! Oh my God.
That looks nothing like it did before!

Noble: Man, I don't think anybody really buys porn mags anymore.

  • "Previously On...": Noble (usually) gives a one-sentence summary of the previous episode that's played for laughs.

R-T

  • Rainmaking: In Malus Code, Yuri mentions a restaurant called Run & Run, where the food is cheap:

Yuri: Plus, if you can finish eating the entire special-mega-lunch during lunch time, they say you'll have good luck with finding work, or become the queen of the campus, so all the students are giving it a shot.
Noble: You realise that is just a scam to get you to order big, expensive shit? (laughs)

  • Rage Quit: Played for laughs in Ep 12 of Kagamine Rin Waifu Game, when Rin calls the delivery guy she saw "onii-chan".

Noble: WHAT?! HE GETS THE "ONII-CHAN" TREATMENT AND I DON'T?! I'M NOT ACCEPTING THIS! NO! I WANT THE ONII-CHAN SHIT!
(whacks hand) THAT IS NOT FAIR! FUCK THIS GAME! (leaves) I'M DONE! FUCK THIS SHIT!

"I'm like angry, but I'm like smiling at the same time! This is- This doesn't work for me. I don't have a rage mode, guys, I'm sorry!"

Noble: Santa Titties. (laughs) When do I ever say "Santa titties"? Only in a Sakura game, that's when I would say that.

Dr. Candy: As you may have already guessed, the gloves and boots are key elements in the tactile stimulation and simulation elements of the system.
(Caption: This sim simulating simulants)
Noble: Alright, you just said "simulation". You don't have to say it twice.

  • (Noble misread "stimulation" as "simulation", hence the repetition.)
  • Retcon: Parodied. In the first Samurai Buyer skit, Noble complains that Sponsor Man doesn't even have his glasses on, like he should. Cut to Sponsor Man, with glasses out of nowhere, saying he had them on his face "the entire time...!"
  • Record Needle Scratch: In the Kagamine Rin Waifu Game, when Rin sings and a Vocaloid song plays:

"There it is! (listens, then stock scratch) It's probably copyrighted, so I can- I can't have too much of that there."

"Holy shit! This game just keeps amping it up and up!"

  • It eventually settles down for the story.

Coconut: It's because... I'm not a little girl anymore.
Noble: (while the screen focuses on Coconut's breasts) Yeah, that's for fucking sure!

Q: In certain events when going out, how do you make yourself look?
A1: Like I'm having fun and interacting with others.
Noble: Oh, like I'm: (big smile) "Hey, this is fun! (breathing) Please kill me." (laughs) I'm not like that.

Noble (lying on a bed with a dakimakura, to Sponsor Man): You're not Santa! You're just the guy who comes by every time I get a package from Samurai Buyer!
(turns to camera, thumbs up) Trademark! (ding sound)

U-Z

Takeshi: (thinking) I really should have stopped. And under most circumstances, I would have. But even as I was running, other sounds rode the winds, sounds of chaos and confusion.
Noble: Ha- What is he, a fucking elf now?! "The red sun rises. Blood has been spilled this night." (laughs) I- Stop it.

Koji: Santa... That girl really is in a bad spot right now.
Noble: "But fuck it! Let's go talk to some other girls!" No, that'd be so bad!

  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Joey (The Anime Man).
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: In Time Tenshi, Kenji tries to comfort Kyo, who thinks she is less useful than her coworkers, and succeeds. Except Noble thinks Kenji's really not a good comforter:
    • "You're not Michelle or Rose, but-" ("Oh great! You're not those two women that are better than you.")
    • "When you crack that whip [...] restraining Bunni like a dominatrix, it's amazing!"
    • "You're stronger than that! Act like it!"
  • You Make Me Sic:
    • In Time Tenshi Ep 17, Kenji, taken hostage by rogue scentist fighters Mitsuki and Bunni, goes up an elevator, a horrific reveal awaiting him. But just before that, Noble notices two mistakes in the narration:
      • The elevator is described as coming "to a close".

Noble: "A close"? You mean "A stop!"

Noble: I am getting so critical right now!

  • In Burokku Girls Ep 4, Noble "corrects" the blonde warrior's grammar when running from the Darkness (even though he's kinda wrong), and lampshades himself:

Noble: Girl, I'mma correct your grammar as we're running for our lives, okay?

We don't judge here.
And we're always classy.
