Phantasm (film)/YMMV
- Non Sequitur Scene: There's a scene in which the fortuneteller's granddaughter goes into the mausoleum, enters the room leading to where the lurkers are made and screams. She's never seen again and her absence is never noticed. Really, Non Sequitur Scenes are what this movie and its sequels are all about, and the fourth one goes Up to Eleven by out-BLAMing even the original.
- Complete Monster: The Tall Man.
- Crowning Moment of Awesome: "COME ON YOU MUTHA!"
- In the first movie, Mike making an exploding hammer out of a shotgun shell, thumbtack, and claw hammer and using it to blow a hole in a locked door so he can escape. Did I mention that Mike is about twelve years old?
- Crowning Music of Awesome: Fred Myrow and Malcom Seagrave's dark and atmospheric synthesizer score for the first film.
- The sequel's is arguably just as awesome.
- First Installment Wins: The original film is both the most popular and the most highly regarded of the series.
- Narm: The whole series is a goldmine of it.
- Nightmare Fuel: Lots of it.
- Seinfeld Is Unfunny: The original may be a victim of this, since it predated and probably inspired a lot of Eighties horror films.
- Sequelitis: There are many who felt the sequels were unnecessary.
- Uncanny Valley: The Tall Man himself, at times.
