  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Or something like that: Trina's uniform in "Helen Back Again", which was blue with a yellow belt, is actually a Vovinam Gi, not a Karate Gi. Also, unlike Karate, a yellow belt is the equivalent of a black belt; Trina Vega of all people is a highly skilled martial artist.
  • The Danza: "Tori" is played by Victoria Dawn Justice, also, her character is "half Latina."
    • Lane is played by Lane Napper.
  • Hey, It's That Guy!:
    • Victoria Justice starred in another Dan Schneider show, Zoey101. Like Daniella Monet, she also appeared in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
    • in iParty with Victorious, When Carly, Freddie, and Sam are looking at a picture of Victoria Justice (Tori Vega), Sam says "She looks like that Shelby Marx chick you fought" from the iFight Shelby Marx episode of iCarly. Freddie replies "But this chick is waaay hotter"
    • Ariana Grande (Cat) and Liz Gillies (Jade) were both in 13. Matt Bennett starred in The Virginity Hit and appeared in and the Adult Swim pilot Totally 4 Teens; Daniella Monet appeared on iCarly, Zoey101, and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody; Leon Thomas, Lane Napper and Jim Pirri were guest stars on iCarly.
    • The trope is played with how Matt Bennett looks so much like a slimmer version of Andy Samberg from Saturday Night Live, further lampshaded by Cat's comment on Robbie's The Slap profile. Robbie being identified as Samberg later became a Running Gag.
    • Robbie's Mamaw is Sylvia Fine. Made even funnier by the fact that she shouts at "Marty". Apparently, the writers like The Nanny.
    • Mr. Sikowitz used to be in the Dharma Initiative.
    • Sofia Michele is Betty Bee and one of Griffin's subordinates in Big Time Rush.
    • Mr. Ferguson from Freak The Freak Out was the chemistry teacher from Drake and Josh, as well as Ren and Louis Stevens' father from Even Stevens.
    • Avan Jogia was Ben Stark (Zoe's boyfriend and the one who blew up the train) in Caprica.
    • The producer in "Tori Goes Platinum" is played by Charles Shaughnessy, best known for his role as Max Sheffield.
  • Hey, It's That Voice!:
    • Kai-Lan plays as the restaurant owner's daughter in Wok Star.
    • Jake Farrow, who played Gavin from Drake and Josh is the uncredited voice actor of Rex. Farrow is also a writer of various episodes of Drake and Josh, iCarly and Victorious.
    • The doctor in "Cat's New Boyfriend" and "Rex Dies" is Loren Lester, better known as the voice of Nightwing in Batman: The Animated Series and Barbeque in G.I. Joe.
    • Andre was Tyrone for a while.
  • Shout-Out: The emphasis on Victorious is spelled exactly as Tori Spelling's 2006 show So Notorious.
    • Cat's line "What's THAT supposed to mean!?" was a nod to the Moody's Point sketch on The Amanda Show, also created by Dan Schneider. Furthermore, Cat's format of telling her stories is "One time, my brother... [insert random anecdote], [conclusion]" is exactly how Kyle Rosdensen (Totally Kyle skits) storytells in a dreamily drugged manner.
    • "The Slap" on the iPhone parody shows Tweets from Dan Schneider's cat, and Dan himself "I hate shameless self-promotion", with both Twitter names visible. Similarly, The Slap appears to be the hybrid of Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Myspace combined.
    • In a post on TheSlap, Tori complains that Trina has spent 3 days practising her scream for an audition. In Zoey 101, Lola (played by Victoria Justice) did the same thing.
    • The fake fight scene between Tori and Jade where the latter spouts one of Josh's lines:

Jade: Gimme your money. I ain't playin', gimme your money!

    • The pottery scene of Trapped in an RV references Ghost.
    • Cat's New Boyfriend calls out The Warriors.

Jade: "Toriiiii! Come out to playyyyay!"

Beck: What up with all of the camping stuff?
Jade: Sinjin and his friends are doing some show about a camping trip gone wrong.
Beck: Gone wrong?
Jade: They end up eating each other, I don't know.

    • The B-plot of the same episode featured fish that smooth feet by eating the dead skin, though probably not intentional the reactions of the kids and the scenario were all played out in the in the Sae Nakata route in Amagami, the anime of which aired roughly four months before this episode.
    • The scene in Wok Star when the gang is playing poker the song from the pranking montage in iGet pranky can be heard in the background.
    • The wall of celebrities has Dan Schneider on it.
    • In Sleepover in Sikowitz's, Jade's farm girl costume is a mix of Lulu the Hillbilly and Carly's Idiot Farm Girl. Also, Cat's 80s outfit is reminiscent of Mrs. Hayfer's days as a stand-up comedienne, and her delivery and routine are reminiscent of Jerry Seinfeld.
    • "Ice Cream for Ke$ha" had the obligatory Willy Wonka references.
    • On The Slap, in the video for Robbie's song "Strangers on a Bus" the phrase "I dropped the screw in the tuna!" is written on the whiteboard.
    • In Locked Up, after Robbie accidentally electrocutes the chancellors pet, Sikowitz says "Way to go Urkel"
    • The entire scene involving the dancing convicts is based from the Dancing Inmates in the Philippines. Coincidentally, the said group performed a lot of Michael Jackson songs, while the episode covered a song that involved the said artist.
    • The gang's escape from prison in Locked Up is no subtle parallel to the scene in The Sound of Music in which the Von Trapps escape the music festival before the winners are announced. After the I Want You Back number in Locked Up, Festus's brother, acting as the master of ceremonies, invites the audience to applaud the Hollywood Arts kids. There is a fanfare, and a spotlight is shone where the kids would enter; they don't. He cues the applause again, with another fanfare and another spotlight; the kids are nowhere to be found, and a guard bursts through the curtain, shouting "They're gone!"
    • In Prom Wrecker, to That '70s Show:

Robbie: "Goodnight!"
Cat: "But Robbie–"
Robbie: "I said goodnight!"

Sikowitz: No, I am not the...I mean, Karen, I must have the secret formula for the Krabby Patty!
