Alien vs. Predator (franchise)/Tear Jerker

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Tear Jerkers in Alien vs. Predator include:

  • In the 2010 game, the Xenomorphs are held in cells and tortured by Weyland Yutani. They are forcibly kept separated from the Matriarch, tortured daily by Weyland Yutani and constanly can hear the call of their mother. It is horrible, and then it hits you. The Xenomorphs always suffer this, as it is always the humans that are trying to exploit the Xenomorphs, AVP 2010 was just when it was made more obvious.
  • Specimen Six, the main Xenomorph you play as in the game, is so tortured that she can only weakly obey Groves's commands. An audio log in the Marine campaign makes it clear they intend to do this to her until she obeys since they see her as a chance to make her their weapon.
  • At the end of the Alien campaign, Specimen Six feels the Matriarch dying and is overcome by the neural shock. As she falls, look carefully after the vision of the Matriarch's death, and you will see Six shedding a tear on the ground. The Xenomorphs might be ruthless, but they are still animals and Six is grieving for her mother. The fact that you do it in the Marine campaign makes it even worse.
  • In the Marine campaign of the 2010 game, you manage to get Tequila, your CO and the player character's Implied Love Interest to surgery to remove a chestburster. However, the Big Bad Karl Bishop Weyland shuts off the power to the surgical equipment just out of spite for Katya. As a result, Tequila has to be put in stasis for the chestburster can erupt. Her head is gently caressed as she starts to cough and gag, with the implication she will never wake up. The music is deeply sad, while the achievements related to her are "I Will Never Leave You" and "That's A Promise", both quotes from Ripley in Aliens.
