L is doing all this to make Madoka a goddess. Kyubey eliminates L from the timeline, then asks Ryuk to drop the Death Note on a time in which Light would notice and use it to become Kira. Oh, and the Shinigami Realm is a Labyrinth and the Shinigami King is the Witch in that Labyrinth.}}
