Flash forward 10 years where he and Bow are now Rangers, working to protect the people of HomeTown from various monsters. One day, they get a mysterious call from a princess of Windia that will change their lives...

There are two things that stand out most about this game. The first is the terrible, terrible job that Capcom did translating it from the original Japanese (allthe kindstranslator butcheredfor Mother 3 observed that the translation contains every possible type of namestranslation existmistake). The second is the fact that despite this being the '90s, when Nintendo of America's censorship policies were in full swing, this game got away with having numerous and explicit references to both religion and death. The Big Bad is a deity, for crying out loud! It's pretty much the opposite of what happened with Breath of Fire IV.

There exists a character sheet for the series. Place any character-related tropes there.

tropelist
* Absurdly Spacious Toilet
* And Now for Someone Completely Different: In some events, you take control of Sten, then Nina and then Ryu's mother Valerie. Hopefully you leveled Sten up beforehand, as if not you might as well be softlocked (there's a place to level up, but it's extremely slow).
* Anyone Can Die: .
* Apocalyptic Log: The deserted hunter's lodge contains a diary, with this summation: Do NOT go into the woods.
Line 78:
* I Have No Son: Windia's royal family has disowned Nina. Her mother refuses to acknowledge they're even related. .
* I Have Your Mom: The Church of St. Eva, after Rand's mother refuses to donate her land.
* Inept Mage: Katt/Linn expresses great interest in learning magic, and indeed learns very powerful spells early on (learning a spell the dedicated caster gets at level 55 at just level 11). The problem is she will not have the AP to ever cast this spell until late in the game, and even then she only gets enough to cast these spells once or twice. She can be given a one time boost of 16 AP, letting her cast these powerful spells early on, but this minor boost comes at the cost of easy access to an infinite money loop that benefits the whole party far more and is rarely chosen.
* Inevitable Tournament: The contest in Coursair.
* Informed Deformity: It would make a lot more sense if Nina's black wings were actually... you know, black. This might be explained by 1) with the 8-Bit engine, if they really were black, they'd likely just look like a shadow following her, and 2) you meet Nina around the same time you meet Patty, so the color change was so you wouldn't mistake one for the other.
