A more experienced advisor or confidante to a young, inexperienced character, particularly to a [[Heroic Archetype|hero]]. Named after Mentor, Telemachus' elderly advisor in ''[[Odyssey|The Odyssey]]'', who was actually Athena [[Gender Bender|in disguise]].
