* Peter Jackson's ''[[The Lord of the Rings]]'' films subtly obey this trope. The peasant characters are always dirty, whereas a King like Aragorn is at least ''less'' dirty. Not to mention Gandalf the White's whiter-than-white robes. That last one [[A Wizard Did It|makes sense]], though.
** However, it is only in the coronation scene near the end of the third movie that Aragorn's hair is no longer a mop of stringy, oily hair. And Gandalf, as the Grey Pilgrim before returning as the White, is quite disheveled and wayworn.
