* Changeling Fantasy: They seem to provide an interesting take on this when they adopt Renton
* Despair Event Horizon: Charles's death for Ray.
* Even Evil Has Standards:
* Forgotten Fallen Friend: Enemy, technically, but this trope is Averted either way. The characters who knew them show these two weren't easily forgotten.
* Go Out With a Bang / Go Out with a Smile
* Hotblooded Sideburns: Charles has them.
* Mama Bear: Ray.

** However,
* Shout-Out: Their names, to pianist Ray Charles and or designers Charles and Ray Eames
* Tragic Monster: Ray embodies this
* Villainous Breakdown: Ray loses it when Charles dies. It's heart-rending to see the aftermath of her utterly trashing the Swan in her grief.

* Villainous Breakdown: Ray loses it when Charles dies. It's heart-rending to see the aftermath of her utterly trashing the Swan in her grief. It gets worse when Renton states he'll fight her to stop her, in an effort to talk her down.
* Yandere: Ray is a Mama Bear variety.
