* It helps to think of it like this: media companies consider the media in question as nothing more than an attraction to their ad network. The only reason Fox even bothers to make shows is to attract people into viewing the ads (which is why media companies raise a stink over anything that will let you skip ads). In TV, ads are sold based on "points", or percentage of total viewers watching at a given time. Fox stands lowest in overall points in the Big 4 (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX), which means that they will drop anything not pulling enough points to justify ad sales from their ad clients. Thus, everything dropped in favor of sports (which are some of the highest point scoring programs out there), popular-but-not-popular-enough programs are scrapped in favor of something similar to other highly popular competitor programs on other stations, and all in all not to give you something good to watch, but to steal enough people from other stations.
** This whole "the ads are more important than the show itself" mentality is what caused toys like the Transformers, the Care Bears, My Little Pony, the Masters of the Universe, G.I. Joe, Action Man, Max Steel and the Pound Puppies to have their own shows. Make of that what you will.
** To sum it up, you the viewer are ''not'' the customer. You're the ''product''.
*** Pretty much.
* The fact that the NFL Sunday Ticket package ''depends'' on being able to show every game that FOX is broadcasting simultaneously, but the MLB Extra Innings package not only doesn't feature the games that FOX is showing in markets other than yours, it also blocks out any non-FOX games that might be showing at the same time. (This is usually not a concern since no team in the United States will schedule a game against a FOX game unless they absolutely need to in order to create an impromptu doubleheader. Key words being ''[[Canada, Eh?|in the United States]]''. Being unable to see [[
** The fact that the WORLD Wide Web, which is supposed to be an international thing, has an entire rant about an Americans-only subject bugs me.
*** [[You Fail Geography Forever|Isn't America part of the world?]] Or are we just not allowed to be bugged by something about a network based out of our own country?
