* [[Pet the Dog]]: If he gets too close to or simply too used to someone, he finds himself doing this. With Lucius, despite swearing to kill him he eventually decides not to because he's 'too weak'. With Guy, [[Shoo the Dog|he refuses to teach him any further]] once he realises that any further would make him a match for him, and he would have to kill him as a result. And of course, he mellows out plenty around Karla -- not only does he finally reign in his urge to slay her, but her words get through to him (to a degree, anyway) when pretty much nobody else's can.
