Though it is possible to play it with a guitar controller (the most common way of playing among the fans), it was designed to be playable holding the keyboard similar to how a guitar is held, reflected in the logo for the game.

* [[Fake Difficulty]]: A lot of the custom songs are accused of being overcharted to the point that you're playing notes that aren't in the song, just to make them seem more difficult.
* [[Game Mod]]: There are a lot of full game mods, adding Star Power and other similar features, changing the look of the game, and adding instruments other than just guitar/bass. That and the large number of custom songs which are pretty much required for the game, as the few songs that come with it are too lackluster to make a full game.
